SE-R Spec V Motor Mount Insert Install.

yah the ones i have i belive are powertech import ones, they were 2003specv’s, correct me if im wrong they were the prototype before they came out. okay i work tues and wed but i am working on getting one off, probably wednesday. i can’t wait to put these in, i actually forgot about them. what again are all the pros for them? i remeber smother shift to 2nd or something like that, and much less wheel hop, ne thingelse?

Yep you have the very first set of motor mount inserts ever made for the SER/Spec. A local guy (s/n cwepruk) on b15sentra.net had his dads work in Nisku make a mold for them, he gave them to another local guy here who didn’t want to install them once he found out they let more vibrations through the car. I picked them up from him, put them in and the rest is history. Haha.

He sold them for a while by himself then later sold them through PTI as PTI inserts. These things were out almost a full year before the big boys quit dragging their asses and made inserts. I know Place Racing made mounts but those were damn near solid and replaced the whole bracket to the crossmember, they cost a bunch too. Most people were just interested in inserts anyway.

Honestly if this is a concern to you take your car down to Nissan After you put the inserts in and get them to raise your idle to like 800-850rpm, this will solve any vibration issues. I noticed the added vibration immediatley, it kind of grew on me, but then I put in my Camshafts and you need to raise your idle after the camshafts (for the JWT anyhow) and the car litterally idled like stock (just 350rpm higher), so there is ways to solve the vibration issue. But I should say I had my BSR kit in so that might have added a bit more vibration as well, but Kris has even been in my car when I had the Cams, ESMM’s, BSR (everymod I had) and he was even supprised by how nice it idled.

Yeah, I noticed a huge difference when I had my idle raised after my cam install. It’s near stock smoothness at idle - and yeah, Nick’s car didn’t really seem that much different than mine with the BSR.

Here’s a way of doing it poor mans style.

read at bottom of page.

Yup that is one way to do it, I believe that was before any companies had made MMI’s for this car, but good call man, certainly would save you a few bucks, but that might be a very harsh ride, filling it in like that.

Yeah it might be more harsh, but for ppl like myself who are forced to spend money on food/shelter/clothing and other frivolous things it’s a good mod.

I don’t think you’re the only one who doesn’t live at home. :finga: Most members on this board are well over 20 years old. But yeah go for it I’d love to hear how this works out.

I was going to do that but I wanted the reversability of the inserts.

I was going to do that but I wanted the reversability of the inserts.

I don’t understand the reversability part.

If you fill your stock mounts with urethane, you have to completely replace the entire mount to be rid of it. If you use MMI’s, you can remove them and go back to stock without much effort.

Oh  ha ha.

well today nick installed the motor mounts for me! they are awsome, i haven’t wasn’t able to get a good launch to see if it totally kills the wheel hop cause it was rush hour, but the shifts are smoother and so are downshifts which is really quite nice. and the vibrations in the car are damn noticable, not that i care, but im quite pleased with this mod! thanks again nick! for whichever specs that dont have MMI’s, get em!

Glad to hear you are likein 'em have fun with 'em man, and like I keep saying with every mod you do it just will make you want another :E, but yeah enjoy the smooth launches.
