It happens all of the time. You can buy a used 1g for like $800, exhaust and tune, a 35r and clutch, and use the rest of your money for a cage, since you want it to be legal.

Hell, Mike Faggiano went low 11’s high 10’s all last year on the 16g turbo, stock trans, stock motor, stock transfercase, stock rear end, stock axles, etc… 10’s were hard to run years ago, but now they are not bad at all. And 5k is a lot of money, when you can make your own parts, and the car costs next to nothing.

Don’t forget the cost of gas, insurance, registration, plates (unless its a racecar), and if it is, transport to track, trailer truck etc., gas for that, registration insurance on both trailer and truck, food for the trip, some rubbers for all these bitches your pl0win, Plan B just incase, at least 2 thirty packs of natty ice and a carton of cigs. Could deff be done for 5k In a most dsm’rs do things backwards start with basic bolt on’s then work there way up from example 16g to 30r to 35r. It could deff be done very easy e85+30r+injectors+dsmlink+wideband Build exhaust and intercooler setup.

FWIW, my car made it through tech, has absolutely NO safety equipment and i ran 6 10 second passes in one night and nobody ever said a word to me.

Key word being pump, i will most likely not be on pump gas, more likely to be on e85 this year than anything. but even still, its realistic to be in that area with my setup.

well maybe when my car has the turbo switched out in the next few weeks, and i can decide on what to do with the fuel system for the sc61 i will see where i stand.

when i am finally done probably by the end of february i will post a rundown of exactly what i spent and where i spent it. i am in tune with my budget on the car and i have written down every penny that i have spent and why i spent it. i will not reduce my spending just do make it look better because i want my shit done right but i will list it out and see how it pans out

So to conclude, if you have a car that runs 12s, its mandatory to register and insure it even though you have no intention of driving it on the street.
