seized coilover

well the coilover itself isnt seized, but the height adjustment part is seized ( part that mounts to the knuckle ) any tips or tricks to getting it freed up so i can adjust my ride height? i tried spraying the shit out of it with PB blaster and that had no affect on it, tried big pipe wrenches, nothing. it there anything i can maybe soak it in to free it up?

thanks

just buy a new one

Heat up the collar?

where the hell am i going to buy just one coilover??? and josh im not trying to heat my coilover, i dont want to risk damage to the seals inside.

call the company, you should be able to buy one, i’ve bought a pair before, I know it’s not one but im sure it wont be a problem

hmmm, yeah i would still rather get mine unseized. anyone ever hear of soaking them in coca-cola? i heard it supose to eat rust lol, or atf?

maybe cut the adjustment ring off the coilover then cleanup the threads and order a new ring?

its not a ring, my coilover have sperate ride height adjustment and spring tension.

part “c” is whats seized ( the one on the left )

I’m not saying to melt it, just enough that it expands and can spin. And if they’re already seized and potentially ruined, why not.

I though it was a ring.

Are you sure that part ‘C’ is even adjustable? Did you loosen ‘J’ first? Are these Teins?

Me and my friend had this problem. We kept spraying the coilover for like 3 hours and then the two of us use pure force, which lead to bloody knuckles. Good luck.

yeah im not a retard onyx i have had coilovers on my car for 6 years, i kno how to work on my car, and yes part “C” is adjustable, and obviously u have to loosen the collar labeled “j” to start adjusting it.

n yeah thanks articzap, thats prolly whats going to end up happening, if i cant get it loose my car will just stay at the same ride height. cuz the coilover operates perfectly fine. oh n im going to beaver run on the 18th if u wanna cruise up n chill

just keep spraying it daily for a week, then remove the strut and put it in a vice and go to town with a beastly pipe wrench, add a long peice of tubing on the end of it to your liking for extra force. lightly graze it with a mini-propane torch just to get it warm as it will help IMMENSLY. as long as you dont go getting it cherry red you arent going to damage the internals.
