Where’s the best place to get angle iron and supplies so I can build a workbench? I have a welder and plan to weld it up. Does @Shifty still have the hook up on metal?

What size angle do you want ? Do you want a similar bench top (bent plate)like norb’s ?

I don’t want to over engineer it lol, the heaviest thing that might end up on it would be maybe a transmission, so I think 1 - 1/2 1/8 thickness would be good for the angle iron. The top I’m not sure what thickness just yet, but like I said I don’t need to over engineer it. Any recommendations?

I could get you some stainless or aluminum angle that’s pretty close to those specs for a good price.

The best thing to do, is tell me:

  1. how tall you want your table top
  2. how wide you want your table top
  3. the length you want you table top

Dave got me a 3/16" top and it’s perfect. Heavy as all hell - If you swung a hammer with both hands at it, I doubt you could dent or even scratch the steel.

I built the frame out of wood because it was cheap. But I need a top still, it’s 29"x70" I don’t know how thick I should go, but what are my options and prices?
