I’ve actually lurked around here for a while but ended up at UB for Law School - finishing up my first year and the weather has been gorgeous.
I don’t like going to auto washes because of the brushes swirling up my paint etc and sometimes just like to give it a quick rinse - plus my tires are disgusting from the winter and Delta Sonic can’t clean them well.
Since I’m living at UB North I don’t have access to a hose.
Anybody know of any self-wash stations around?
I went to undergrad in central PA and they were all over for trucks, etc.
Couldn’t find any with a quick search, so figured I would ask since I am realizing a lot of members are actually in this area (especially after attending a buffalo meet last night and realizing a few members were there - somedude and his w12 for example)
The Mobil at Millersport and North Forest has Laserwash, which doesn’t use any brushes and does a surprisingly good job without damaging paint. I think they also have self-service bays. I used to go between classes.
I never really go up Millersport - Have only really “explored” NFB area and elmwood/downtown. Life of a law student.
I thought the one at Maple/N Forest was a self “pet wash” since there’s the pet grooming place attached to it… LOL
I guess that one is closest. I need to get that winter grime off of my tires
Yes, that’s true (they must want you to think they have some very special fuel). I think the wash price is reasonable though. There are some Laserwashes here that charge $13.
If your wheels are very cruddy from winter, I’d take some wheel cleaner and a brush and give them a good scrub before entering the Laserwash. The wash will rinse away the cleaner (enter the first door slowly – the wheel and underbody jets are right after the entrace to the bay). I really like the Turtle Wax Platinum All-Wheel cleaner. http://www.turtlewax.com/tirewheelhub/products/platinum/all-wheel-tire-cleaner-with-wax. You’ll probably just have to give them a final wipe down with a microfiber (and maybe some spray wax or quick detailer).
I know this, I mean I don’t go “up” Millersport at all
I guess not. I stick to the 7th floor anyway
I have great stuff at home for it, but that’s at home.
I went to the robo wash earlier and even with a tire cleaner and using the foaming brush the tires still have a nice brown hue to them.
I guess its good enough for the next few weeks until I get home
