So I did it. After owning my car for 2 and a half years I took my car to an automated wash. I hadn’t washed it since December and I put on Klasse AIO and Collinite Insulator wax. The wax is holding up terrifically well, but I wanted to get the salt off.
The wash is decent. I got “the works” for $8.
It cleans very well.
It dries horridly.
It would be twice as quick if it had two wash arms.
Delta Sonic does a better job drying, but also a better job inducing swirls with those sandpaper towels they use to dry. If the weather was nice I would have washed it myself, but this is a good alternative. If I had planned it out I would have brought a few microfibers to dry it off at the end.
Overall: nice wash with no little slut at the end to tip.
I keep one of those absorber towels in it’s case in my trunk for when I hit the laser wash at millersport/n.forest. The wash does a good job, 100% touchless, but the dryer doesn’t work too well. It does a good enough job that it only takes me a couple minutes to get the drops with the absorber, ring it out, and stick it back in the trunk.
I think Laserwash is the absolute best way to wash a car second to by hand.
If you have custom or polished paint that is the way to go. I would never let Delta Sonic touch a car I cared about.
I used to bring a bath towel and just pat what was left wet afterwards.
I don’t like the absorber. It’s not nice on paint. Go to Pep Boys and buy the Meguiars waffle weave microfiber. It’s beautiful.

I haven’t had a problem with my absorber, but I regularly rinse it out with the hose to make sure I’m not rubbing dirt into my paint.
I really like it because you can roll it back up damp, toss it in it’s storage tube, and leave it in the trunk without it becoming a science experiment.
can dry car
can wash towel
do not scratch car
can dry car quickly
do not have to roll it up
don’t risk cultures
have something that smells nice
have something that doesn’t feel like fat woman’s epidermal layer
… If the weather was nice I would have washed it myself…

Are you kidding me. If I had the day off today I would have been washing my car. It was beautiful out, I work outside and actually enjoyed the weather today. When I got home, I was actually debating washing my car, but found a new problem.
I was fairly pleased with the laserwash thing at the mobil on sheridan and colvin. I haven’t used other ones so I really cant comment on if its a good one or not. It still did a decent job. I’m not particulary worried about a ‘perfect wash’ in this weather, the car will just be filthy in 100 yards anyway.

+1
I came home on my lunch break and washed my car because it needed it and I wanted to be outside. I knew it was going to rain/snow tonight and tomorrow and the car would just look like shit again, but it was so nice I just needed the hour outdoors.
