Guy, you didnt even look fully under the car, there is no major rust on the frame, its like 2 inches by an inch in size and only on the one rail, ask other guys who restored their 240 how much rust there probably was, just the rocker pannels had pretty bad rust, but I told you they have to be changed by phone, before you came down to look at the car, obviously someone who dosnt know how to weld or dosnt have a welder isnt able to change them. there is no rust under the hood, so yeah for an 89 240 the rust is minimal. thanks for trying to ruin my post. and dont get in to something that you cant complete knowing you dont have any experience in body work, all in all you were a good guy to deal with but you over exaturated the amount of rust there really is. parts car, sure but its easily restorable, it would cost 150-200 to make new rockers and some time. not a big deal for most people.

As I said above, there is only one spot that is rotted out, but there is rust at many spots on the frame, I never said that it was rotted through, and again that is in my opinion. I do not want a car with rust, if the engine is blown, tranny is gone, fine, if there is rust on the body panels that’s okay, but I don’t mess with rust on the underbody. As I said that is what I saw, and I hate to say this but if this was such a steal why is it still in your driveway. Good luck with your sale, I don’t mean to ruin the sale for you but at the same time I think it is only fair that the people who are interested in the car get an unbiased view on it.

Look man, that is what I saw, to me that is a lot of rust, I don’t think I actually pointed out something that wasn’t true, there is rust on the frame, only at one spot the rust is rotten through, there is a rust on the driver’s door, there is rust on the rocker panels. I don’t see what I pointed out that is not true, I think i only explained it in detail and stated my opinion which is that this is too much rust. If any one else on this board that checked out this car (like the guy you said was supposed to buy it last tuesday for $700) they can post up what they though of it. But obviously this is my opinion according to my observation.

Thanks for the offer but yeah, I live kinda far, and even if I got it fixed or fixed it myself if I had time, I wouldnt have the money for 2 cars anyway
I’ll sell it eventually, hopefully to someone who knows what they are doing since the car does need some work, but nothing major.
Okay, I live around the corner from this guy, and I’ve looked at the car.
Rust or not, it’s worth $500-600 bucks. The interior is in good shape from what I saw (didn’t have much time to look).
Now, I WOULD buy it if I had the money sitting in my bank account…but I don’t… So, if anyone is interested in buying it but doesn’t want to drive from far due to gas costs, etc. let me know and I’ll go have a look at it again to let you know what is reasonable to fix or salvage.
Also, this was the Only time I’ve met the guy and he seems good to deal with, so I can assure you that I am unbiased. Like I said, I live around the corner, I could literally push it home and not be out of breath, and if I had the money I’d have the car.

If I dont get rid of this car in 2 weeks, I will consider parting it out guys, I just dont want one person getting one thing and I get stuck with the car and wont be able to sell it or sell off the rest, so if I can make my 500 faster by parting it out then yeah I’m willing to part it out, I mean I know engine and tranny go for around 300.
Hatches go for 120 especially ones that dont come with an oem wing and have no rust
so yeah, If I have people lined up that want stuff and will get it for sure then I will part it out but for now i’d like to sell the whole car.
I could use a new hatchback, those stupid foam wings hold water nicely, and rust out two nice holes. So im definitly interested in some parts,
