Nationalize the oil industry, no more record profits or outrageous speculation.
:fail:
and this would bring down oil/gas prices how?
i disagree with the windfall taxes…
HOWEVER, the government shouldn’t be subsidizing oil companies at all.
Also in the news, Democrats block drilling off the coast for oil. Even though CHINA!!! is already doing it. Yea, great, who needs oil.
I know we hate someone making money, but you can’t tax everything you don’t like. Copper companies are making 20 percent profit margin, thats 4 times what the profit margin is for gas. If we start more of these BS taxes, you get nothing but more BS social programs. Taxes pay for SERVICES, not other peoples food, walking around money, healthcare, social security… services. Its fun to tax “big oil” but some day they might wana tax your “windfall overtime” and ever other BS thing they want. We need less taxes, not fuckin more.
Wana help the problem, FUCK OPEC, and lets stick our of fuckin straw in the mud, and get out own oil, you know all that oil were sitting on. If we let china and other countries suck what is 30 miles from our shores, well were truely a nation of idiots. And once were drilling in ANWAR and off our coasts, then start making nuclear power plants.
Werd and werd
Plus WTH is “unreasonable” profit?
LOL@ big oil raising thier prices to make more profit, when they havent even lost profit let alone ever lost money, means they are the entire reason it is not 50-60$ a barrel.
The country should step in and cap oil prices at 60$ a barrel, 60$ a barrel is better than not selling those barrels at all.
Link to the pricing thread referenced JayS don’t think I caught that one, boring day at work got time to blow :banghead:
That would be rediculous profit being made at the expense of an economy in shambles.
:picard:
those chodes (oil companies) have us by the throats. its like they are holding us by the ankles upside down shaking the change out of our pockets and theres nothing we can do about it. Meanwhile Detroit is pumping out the sickest muscle cars since the 60s-70s and all we can do is deal with it.
This whole idea is so retarded I don’t know where to start.
Profits on regular business is NOT windfall profits!
I am staying out of this thread for my own health.:banghead:
The strictly profit system only works for things that aren’t basic needs.
:picard:
as much as I don’t like high gas prices, it is simple economics. think what you may but you don’t HAVE to buy gas (much less own a vehicle). you can live closer to where you work, work closer to where you live (both are up to you), or use alternative means to travel. you have two feet. bikes are cheap. … or quit your bitching and realize we still have it REALLY good compared to the rest of the world re: gasoline
gas is not a “basic need” - we’ve just come to THINK of it as one…
<flame on>
and while you’re at it, when you only go where you walk, don’t buy anything shipped on a truck. Don’t have electricity at your house because that’s made from burning fossil fuels. Don’t heat it with anything but a wood stove. Whether its direct use or not, gas is very much a basic need in this society.
So i give you the stupid socialist picard. :picard:
