This girl I work with was talking about the Seneca Army Depot (she’s from near geneva) and she pronounced depot “deh-poh.” I always thought it was “dee-poh” and looked it up in the dictionary, and it has 2 spellings; it appears to say “dee-poh” is the military pronunciation and “dep-oh” is a british pronunciation.
Can anyone inform me on this? I’m pretty curious why there would be a british pronunciation of an american military base
Been in the service for 10 years, always heard it pronounced her way. We usually say something is going in for “depot level maintenance”, say that her way, and your way, hers flows easily, humans are lazy.
