MY SES LIGHT CAME ON YESTERDAY. I HAD IT CHECKED TODAY AND THE CODE P0011 CAME UP? IT SAID CAMSHAFT TIMMING TOO FAR ADVANCED. THE CODE WAS RESET AND THE SES LIGHT HAS NOT COME UP SINCE.
I HAD MY TIMMING ADVANCE TO 17*
ANY IDEAS ON WHAT I SHOULD DO IF THE SES LIGHT COMES BACK.
SHOULD I UNDO THE TIMMING ADVANCE.
SOMETIMES DURING HARD ACCELERATION FROM FIRST THROUGH SECOND GEAR I GET A FLASH BUT I WAS NOT SURE IF IT WAS THE WASHER FLUID SLUSHING AROUND OR THE SES LIGHT.
the code will come back eventually. If your worried about the ses light, then readjust the timing back to stock setting.
otherwise, since you know why it is coming on because you have advanced it, then leave it alone.
but of course if you leave the light on, you won’t know if any new codes show unless you check often to make sure its only the cam timing code.
remember your engine will already advance itself during high rpm, so since you have it at 17, the ecu will adjust it another 10 degrees, therefore it would be out of spec and a light pops up.
