SGM Long Tube Header Development - 30whp Gain!

collectors will be here mid next week, all that is left to get these first sets of headers produced is the flanges!

Should be very exciting

Fuckin’ SICK!!!

That car sounds AMAZING!!!

Love the headers and the exhaust!!!

Materials have arrived for the first 2 prototype sets before production, here are some pics!

PM with any questions and to pre-order! More pictures will come tommorow, and dyno once the headers are complete to see differences with larger primaries and collector, as well as with SG exhaust.

I like the little loop-didi-loop in 1 of them!! :wiggle:

just like dragonflyer!!!

so sick

x2 … whats the loop for ?

Likely to keep the runner lengths as close as possible to each other.

Equal lengthnicity or clearance, but probably both.

Sasha nice welding/fabrication skills man, never seize to amaze me…good shit

ill take 2 sets please

More pics. Plan is to have them done and ready for dyno on Sunday, where we can quantify the gains of our new exhaust and these headers over the smaller sized primaries and collectors from before.

Thanks for the kind words on the headers guys! Avery I’ve got two free sets coming to your house right now

Have a great new years kids!

Here you can see the tubes mocked up and installed in the race car. The first tube has to be squished 1/8" over 3 inches of length to give safe clearance to the steering shaft and bellhousing. That is how tight this stuff is!

Here you can see the left bank mocked up (just tack welded) and installed on our spare engine

Watercut 304 stainless flanges and peices of 4cm tube that has been pressed with a die forming to the shape of the ports. A 1 3/4" ring is placed inside the header end of the tube, preventing it from taking on an oval shape when the die stretches the material.

This tubing step from 1 3/4 to 1 7/8 allows the exhaust gasses to expand as they cool and reduce a buildup of restriction that a long small tube creates, without killing velocity at low engine speed - which would occur if the tube was 1 7/8s straight off of the head. The steps also act as a surface flow restriction for exhaust flowing the wrong way - preventing reversion. The tubes grow again near the collector to 2" on this application, however they will not on our production headers.

great writeup, dude

and beautiful work

kudos

Well they are done ladies and gentlemen, here are some photos, dynos and video!

Power gains from 3.5" exhaust over dual 2.5" exhaust and larger header primaries and collectors (SGM header vs Coast Fab header)

Gains from exhaust only (both with SGM header)

And finally, the video!

Beautiful work Sasha! There should be no problem pushing these things to serious customers.

ps: the youtube one is the best to watch (and listen)… but make sure you click the high quality button.

definitely sounds like an exotic/superbike!! really unique sound produced:)

From the video, that is still a sound that wont be forgotten. The long tube headers turned out amazing.

Wow, those results are amazing. Neven seen such gains from an exhaust only. They look friggen amazing, good work.

Great job on the video and incredible job on the headers.

Crown Racing approves of these gangster headers!
