nvm
So…
I pilled off everything except the heads last night as I was getting tired…
As I pulled off the Lower Intake manifold I found something rather interesting :ponder
It appears that in the 5 years the car was sitting, we had a mouse problem… and the mice had made a nest between the Lower Intake Manifold and Block (Theres about a 2 inch space in there) It was kind of ammusing but at the same time really kind of annoying
Going ot pull the heads off completely tonight and soak them in disel fuel
:lol
Nice build you got here. Keep up the good work :nod
Ahh and the hits just keep on comming :headbang
So I pulled the heads off…
To find some awsome carbon buildup on my pistons… seriously looked like a little hill… I was like DAD! this is why you don’t run 93 in a low compression motor! This isnt 30 years ago where everything used 110 octane gas and had pushrods!
So yeah, i gott clean those up, but the cylinder walls look good…
Gotta grab some disel fuel tommorow and soak the heads in them over the weekend and then pull those apart and order my cams…
THen hopefully in a few weeks the motor will be back together provideing I have my cams…
and hopefully it doesnt blow up
Althought it sucks, I take everything apart, label everything, put shit in baggies, go over it liek twice before i take it off and i still feel like ill never get this thing back together right
Ahh well thats why there beer and FSM’s
Pics later
:excited
Picture time! Although kind of embarrasing to look at haha
Well, as you can see, the pistons have carbon deposits baked onto the tops, this was after a quick wipe, there was a ton of soot on top, now I just have to carefully get all the deposits off of them so there pretty and clean!
The good news is that the cylinder walls look awsome, and theres no scratches/gouges anywhere! ;D
The valves dont have anything visualy wrong with them other than looking a little dirty :headbang
Dont ask, the one pulley wouldent come off to save its life, so i improvised, when i take them apart and soak them in disel hopefully they will be a little easier to get off
Couldent find my damn puller so I couldent get the timing belt off the lower pulley… Gotta pick a puller up tommorow
And yes I left the altenator on there… Why because i’ve gone thru 3 of them and I don’t want to fuck with it :tong
Oh, and there is talk of going 38 over and forged piston/rod going between me and my father :ponder
DIESEL
i think you should ran some sea-foam thru that baby… or some water/meth.
did run seafoam thru her once, aparently it wasnt enought!
prolly wouldnt hurt as there looks to be quite the ridge on top of the cyl,s so there is wear goin on
Everythign is smooth to the touch
omg nissan alternators are UBER FAIL im on #4 allreaddy (between 2 sentras) i know how u feel bro lol
Well, not so much from them sucking… because I have a feeling as to why the other 2 failed…
its the fact that doing an altenator on this thing is by far the most PITA one i’ve ever done
it will be but that black ring says other things
Thres a tiny bit of blemish at the top yes… its almost like an oil color, but its smooth… and the shadow your seeign is from me not scraping off the head gasket yet
nice work man …so i hope you are going to clean up the outside of the block as well and paint it
nah in the cyl not on top id still bore it and reslug it puttin it back together wit new rings and shit aint gonna cut it
Oh dude, thats the reflection and some oil i used on the sidewall when i turned it so i dident scratch anything up
its clean as hell
ahhhhh…as a rule of thumb if ya dont see crosshatching at least hone it or bore it
