shocks/struts

hey guys. was wondeirin if anybody can help me somehow.

I bought some Tokico HP shocks/strut cartridges, and had them laying on a table for a while.

so my parents deicded to stick all my parts, (alternators, thottle body, clutch, intake plenum, and the shocks all in a box. of course, with the shocks in the bottom.

So the polished pistons got some minor, hard to see nicks in them, but one shock is FUBAR now, will barely dampen at all, and 2 ohers have a minor amount of oil coming out. and a sticker on all the shocks say to not use any tools on the polished part of the pistons, because it can damage the seals inside, voiding my warranty.

I told my parents i have to order new ones now. but they dont believe me. anyways, any advice is appreciated. this is mostly a rant, because it pissed me off. haha

yeah when the piston gets scorn and scraped it just means that when it goes up and down it wont seal and thus leak oil at times until there is none left … if you polish it it will lessen the diameter and also make the seal worse with the piston …
that is why alot of struts/coilovers have boots over the pistons so they dont get any dirt and sand on the that would scrape the piston when it enters the base of the shock …

I dont know what to do to fix that
