Shop that will align lowered car?

I am looking for a shop around Robinson/Moon area that will do a proper alignment on a lowered car. The shop also needs to be open on a Saturday seeing as though I’m in class or at work from 8-6 M-F. Not really worried about the price, I just want it done correctly. All of the places I’ve called will either not align a lowered car or are not open on a Saturday. I must be lookin at all the wrong places cause I’m having a hell of a time finding a shop that will do this for me. Thanks in advance!

If your willing to travel there is a place on rt. 8 called Schindlers Automotive they have a laser alignment rack don’t have their number but this will help

yea i’m looking for the same. Everywhere i go they say my car is to low or they cant do lowered cars.

I ran into the same problem with my probe. I took it to NTB in RT 51 along with some home made ramps to get it on the rack. I had friends that worked there at the time so they helped me out. I must have stoped at 10 places that couldnt help me after seeing how low the car was.

cheeks, where’s that place on rt8? my house is actually over that way but i’m goin to school at rmu so i live over by robinson. do you know for sure they’ll do lowered cars?

victorsmalls, how low was your car? i mean, my car is only lowered about 1.5-2" all the way around so its not a huge drop. i’m desperate for a place for this point.

Somewhere in the 3 1/2 range.

in the century III area just up from the NTB that victorsmalls is talkin about is a place called GEARHEADS. my ex g/f’s dad runs it. always workin on some type of altered car. so i would imagine he would do it. he does great work. im just not a big fan of his being that he choke slammed me 7 or so years ago.

but thats another story. he does do great work though.

thanks flyinglow, i’ll give that place a shot. i went to ntb tonight and they put the car up on the rack and fixed the caster and toe but they refused to touch the camber. they said a “specialty” shop would have to do it. anyone else have any more ideas while we’re on the topic?

if your car is only lowerd 1.5-2.0 and they corrected your toe you should be ok. they wont mess with the camber because you need a kit. i drove my cars lower than yours for years with just a toe correction and neverhad a tire wear problem. so as long as they set the toe correct you’ll be fine.

For years, I had my cars (even competition cars) aligned at the NTB in McMurray. Once the car was too low to get on their rack, I utlimately ended up taking it to McB Motorsports.

i lowered my car 2+ inches, the front lip is 3 maybe 4 inches at most off the ground. NTB in robinson used wood as ramps and had no problem getting it aligned! the lip rubbed slightly but no big deal IMO. there is still some negative camber in the rear that cant be taken in unless i get some adjustable RUCAs but thats a s13 thing.

Bonus Tire in penhills…on verona road. i think its $40

i understand this fact. however, i do have a front camber kit. i tried to explain this to the guy at ntb and he still said nothing could be done. why is it that no one will jack up the car and adjust this and put it back on the rack. my car had no problem getting onto the rack. they performed the test and everything is corrected but my front camber. i believe it was like 2.1(L) and 2.4(R) when it should be set to .5. they were about to charge me the $88.XX to get it done when i noticed nothing had been corrected on the front camber. never thought it woudl be this hard. is it that difficult to adjust and re-rack the car or something???

I’m not sure about the robinson/moon area, but NTB here in monroeville aligned my car with no problem. Another place that would probably do it is import/export, Steve over there used to work with modified cars all the time and he could probably mess around with your camber kit.

camber shouldn’t even be that much of a problem for you…my teg is lowered 1.75" and the camber was only about 1.4 degrees. its been like that for more than half a year and no uneven tire wear yet.

I think that a shop’s willingness to accept a non-stock car will vary from shop to shop or even person to person within the shop. When I was taking my road race car to NTB, I always asked to be scheduled when the tech named Kevin was working and everything was cool. In fact, they let me in the shop with him.

On a lowered car, some shop staff might be worried that if they damage the car (or even if they don’t but some fool comes in with something broken and claims that the shop broke it), they will run into problems. This is probably why many shops won’t want to deal with modded cars.

skip Kevin, use Dan.

Mark can do alignment on lowered cars? I need this too. Mine got bad since I lowered it more.

did you get it done yet? if not there is a place up in cory that your near, aces tire they charge 60 bucks for all 4 tires to align the right way. i’m getting mine done there sat. cory is down past moon.

Corapolis. I hate when people say Cory (or Corey)… Corey is a small town in Mercer County, near the looney bin in the town of Polk.

ok sorry sean, in Corapolis. i can get you the number if you want it.
