This was more depressing then my car and all its problems over the last 3 years (2.5 motors, 2 turbo setups, now putting around n/a…)
Well finally all moved and found my build sheet from the Engine assembly…
Clevite bearings were used
Clearance - M=mains R=rods
M1 .0011
M2 .0011
M3 .0012
M4 .0014
R1 .0013
R2 .0012
R3 .0012
R4 .0011
Piston to bore clearance
C1 .003
C2 .003
C3 .0032
C4 .003
You guys can see this was a little tight… I just had my evo tuned and got to talk to the shops Honda guy… Said my mains should be .0020 to .0025 and my piston to bore should be .004 to .005.
What do you guys think? I didn’t ask him about the rod clearance but I would guess that should be the same as the mains???
all those clearances can be honed to fit, and crank can be polished by a machine shop to fit. much better tight than loose, and you’re not far off. I’m no honda guru, so I can’t help with clearance numbers other than honda spec.
Those were the clearances of the motor that spun 3 out of 4 rod bearings on the dyno… The definitive answer of WHY is still under investigation… I think a combination of a few things… Round 3 or maybe 4 is in effect. I lost track of my fail count…
SOLD.
cool bump…
Disappointed that this was the bump
Gennaro you buy this? Lol
is there a ending to this fantastic story of this really sweet car?..don’t leave me hanging!
I remember when I read the whole story some serious hours and work was put into this bad boy!
JJ or Joe hit me up yesterday and said Shrek is in its new home so hopefully by spring it will be ripping up a track near you!
Bump bc I saw this on cl the other day. Shrek, that you?
The new owner should be updating this thread or making a new one instead of sending me pics from his shitty cell phone fggt!
Just wanted to update this. I’m not making a new thread since everything is the same. I bought this car off SHREK about a year ago. I’ve known him for a few years and helped him a few times when he owned this car. Has a new crank (un cut) and bearings. When it was delivered it was still partially disassembled. I figured I might as well tear it the rest apart and paint it. All you teal fans sorry. Still have some assembling to finish up. Haven’t started it yet, still have wiring and small things to finish. Only things I’ve changed from SHREKS setup was I eliminated the remote oil filter and oil cooler, bought a new oil pump, ACT clutch and flywheel.

Good to see it back in progress again
Very cool and I like the gray color
I used to LOVE this thread. This made my day seeing that it may actually get finished soon.
Awesome that this is being continued. I always enjoyed reading this thread. Tim doing well too ?
Doing very well. Been working on the evo a lot. I told him I updated his thread with a few pictures, so I’m sure he will be commenting shortly.
Awesome so you know turbominime4door? We were talking about this car a couple months ago!
