Shreks boosted GSR Build

with the R-lights check you pulg in the tranny this falls out all the time on my car … you have a new harness right??? it could be that … check the plug if its working right … if it is just rewire it to under the dash where you can tap into the lights from there

of you need the loc… shoot me a pm ill take a look on my dc2 it should be the same on the hatch

Thanks! Ill have pic’s up… Maybe hopefully others can learn from my mistakes!

Then there’s the tachometer I recently installed. Its working and I am using the plug off the MSD box for the signal but when I start revving past 8K it go’s nuts? I have all ready decided for the next build the car is staying as stock as possible. Simple wiring, No MSD, keeping everything under the dash bla bla… What the hell was I thinking!!!

i said the same thing when i thought it would be a good idea to swap a OBD0 car to OBD1 lol

New “race” harness, no need for backing up…lol! I was thinking of cutting the plug off the extra harness I have and trying to integrate it back in. The thing is the 8-5 job I have leaves me with no time. The car is running on basically two separate harnesses, one is all engine signals to the ECU the other is for everything else, lights, wipers, IDK what

Started the day off by removing the turbo
http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa271/shrekb18/CIMG0001-3.jpg?t=1217710411
Cleaned it up and removed the compressor housing
http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa271/shrekb18/CIMG0004-2.jpg?t=1217710480
http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa271/shrekb18/CIMG0002-1.jpg?t=1217710513
Then I figured out why we are leaking oil, Three out of four backing plate bolts broke off
http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa271/shrekb18/CIMG0003-2.jpg?t=1217710544
I figured it has to be rebuilt anyways so I disassembled it to see how much damage was done
http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa271/shrekb18/CIMG0009-1.jpg?t=1217710589
The bearings all looked good. The compressor wheel did rub some in the housing and the back of the wheel also rubbed on the backing plate. The shaft looks straight but that only by eye. I think if the shaft was bent the bearing would show it wear.

http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa271/shrekb18/CIMG0011-3.jpg?t=1217710638
Next I had to drill out the broken bolts, Never fun
http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa271/shrekb18/CIMG0012-3.jpg?t=1217710665
Reassembled it with some work bolts and bagged it. Still have to box and send out Monday morning

http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa271/shrekb18/CIMG0006-2.jpg?t=1217710732
Some good news, I got the SRS harness out and found the two connecters for the horn!

http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa271/shrekb18/CIMG0013-3.jpg?t=1217710792
Then I installed the PCV on since my inspection appointment was suppose to be Monday… Guess that will have to wait! Before and after
http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa271/shrekb18/CIMG0014-3.jpg?t=1217710837
Now to get back on part two. I need to figure out what to keep and what I can trash from the LS

So I sent the Turbo to Michigan turbo, They said they cant fix it b/c they only use Aluminum seal plates. They then directed me to Turbonetics saying it was there turbo? I call them and ask a few questions. They tell me to send it with a none refundable $100 and they will inspect it and tell me what needs to be done. If it rebuild able its an automatic $290 for labor not including parts. Then they went on to say if the shaft is the older one (smaller then 1/4") they cant help me.

Looks like I am in the turbo market. Can anyone tell me for sure what turbo this was? I think it was a T3/T67? If so I need a T3 series flanged turbo right?

Like I said the bearing looked ok, So maybe Ill just file down the wheel and bolt it back together with stronger bolts? Is that a off the wall idea???

I thought you were going to say… “then sell it on ebay” lol.

Isn’t stupid 2turboz selling a similar turbo?

:wiggle:

that’s gay…

remember the turbo spins at hundreds of thousands of rpm’s so i dunno, the balance has to be pretty precise.

any t3 exhaust flanged turbo will work.

I’d say get a 35R but its water cooled, so then u gotta run water feed/drain lines and if ur like me, the thought of that makes u say ughhhhhhhhhhh

sooo

look for used SC61’s on honda-tech…they should be pretty cheap.

or i dunno what turbo 2turboz has but that might be worth a look too

if u dont mind doing the water lines and dropping 1200(new) on a turbo, get a 35R

edit: i forgot about these guys, i know they used to do turbo inspections for like 250 or something back in the day

http://cheapturbo.com/

Mine is t4…so he would have to run the adapter but its a pt67 .81 A/R brand new journal bearing.

not to shit on ur sale but i think a T4 on his motor is a little too big and peaky…maybe after he goes 84mm and built motor revving to 9.5-10K

what exhaust wheel? Ptrim?

Cart before horse?

Haha not a bad idea but my conscience wouldn’t let me do that unless I did tell the whole story. Im trying to find out if there is a bearing upgrade package offered b/c Turbonitecs said that they cant even work on turbo’s with the smaller shafts. So basically where does that leave me with junk? I know both housing are fine and the hot side is even coated. Maybe I can find a new “old” shaft on a shelf some where.

I guess if it did come out of balance I wouldn’t want it to start breaking abort and feeding into my engine.

I have wrote 3 different places, just waiting for reply’s.

O-boy 35R time? Maybe I can grow some balls tonight and max out a credit card - Where would you guys buy new from?

Sorry man going to pass…GLWS!

See if what innovative mike can do. Otherwise I can ask cody from lovefab for u…i got my 35R from him for a nice price…he welded on a vband for the exhaust housing as well which was convenient

cheapturbo.com’s price isnt bad either

On its way!
