Shrek's new DD - 03 Evo VIII

After a little reading I figured it out. Doubt I’ll use them, have to wait and see what things look like.

Yeah they work, I guess they just work better when assembled correctly and adding another disc. I know I don’t need to worry about it right now but its on the “to do” list!

Not sure a Exedy triple is going to happen this year… what do you think of the ACT Xtreme PP with 6 puck disk?

here is my take on ACT, i had one in my car and it played a big roll in killing my stock transmission lol. it was fine when my car was sub 500awhp, once i put my first 35r on the car it just locked me out and ate my tranny alive within a few months.

i dont know what your power goals are for down the road, the twin is great too.

That 6 puck for sure will kill your trans. I have a ACT HDSS, it’s alright for a DD I like it. It’s over 4 years old prob has over 50k from the prev owner, might need to get a new disk.

If you plan to upgrade the turbo past a IX then you may be better off with that Exedy triple, twin is okay but the triple is said to be harder to fuck up lol.

I plan to keep this turbo for now, If I find a cheap Evo9 or 10.5 hotside I would. If I can do what Mark did with this car I would be happy for this year… He did have the triple IIRC

Yeah alotta people complain about the rear differential in the evo saying it should have more midcorner oversteer. That quote is prolly taken from the thread on EvoM where all the autocross guys were talking about trying to make the car oversteer so they can take tighter corners. As for put together wrong idk i never took mine apart. But I do know several companies will build a stock one to oversteer for like 450ish pretty cheap mod that i guess makes the car handle a lil better in the hands of someone who can drive well.

I might pull mine apart and take a look. DB said its obvious to see what was switched around. I downloaded the service manual to compare it to. Going to wait until I get all the parts I plan to swap out first so to help with down time.

I had that car down to 2890# without me in it, I think. It’s been a while, but that number sounds familiar.

Why the different sway bar, is it lighter than stock?

I’m going to try getting the car weighed this week. There is a truck stop down the road… well like 40 miles down the road. Under 3,000 would make my day. I haven’t installed the coil overs yet.

Yes the Hotchiks bar is lighter, I will try to find the #'s for ref!

I am glad you are doing some nice things to that car. I have all of the Buschur aluminum mounts no my '06, and it is definitely lighter, and smaller than stock. The only thing I didn’t like, and went back to stock, was the driveshaft bushings. I put solid ones on the car, and it sounded like shit. You heard EVERYTHING through the drivetrain. I went back to the stock rubber ones, and it’s almost silent drivetrain again. And it still cuts 1.4’s like butter, heh.

Definitely getting light!

Fan came Saturday, I guess it was on back order.
Not as light as I would have hoped. I wont know if I am saving weight until I can find a different scale or have both fans out. The bathroom scale wont register it.

So should I make this a pusher or a puller? If I make it a pusher I can install it in-between the FMIC and Radiator out of the way and clean up the bay or just replace the stock one with this one and make it a puller. It will look clean either way. Either way I have to pull the bumper cover to install.

id just leave it as a puller, whered you get that fan from? i thought the spal fan i use was quite noticeable in a weight diff when i changed mine

Fan came from STM. I havent had the stock fan off to compaire yet.

How do I wire this up?

I have basically 2 options but I would like a 3rd. Stock using the fan control box that know one knows what it does or wire it direct to a ACC so it runs when ever the key is on.

Just test the factory relay box with a multimeter, to see what signal you need for it to run. You don’t want that fan running all the time the car is on.
