aapl = next google?
[/quote]
umm, no. Aapl dates back to the mid 80s. While, yes, they were strong in the last two - three years, they are no “overnight” hot button.

Morans that suck at finance think that Apple is making $299 and $379 respectively on the iPhone.
iDumbasses
I don’t understand why people get their panties in a wad when they find out the raw material costs for an item, it doesn’t mean shit. Fucking can’t stand idiots that think everything should be free.

and then they complain nothing is made in america anymore 5 minutes later.
Apple is doing it. I want to go check one of these out for kicks, although if I switched phones it would be to a blackberry.

Morans

<3 irony.
Apple makes some nice stuff but just like everything else they make, Apple humpers are touting it to be something revolutionary when it does the same thing as everyone else’s but in an arguably nicer package. If the Apple brand-faithful were animals they would no doubt be racoons. “Oooh!!! Shiny!!!”

Yes walter, we understand there is more too it than that… Royalties and licensing, assembly costs, etc… I was merely pointing out the cost of the guts… :walter:

I don’t know. I’m very anti-apple, anti-mac, I don’t even own an iPod (I’m starting to think I’m the last person in the US not to own an iPod) and I’ll admit I like the iPhone. Sure, other devices do the same thing, but when you’re talking about a combined device as small as a phone, the packaging IS EVERYTHING. I absolutely hate text messaging, have it basically blocked entirely on my phone, so that’s no a big issue.
What amazes me more with the iPhone than the mac humpers trumpeting it as a technologicial milestone is the anti-mac backlash. There are people just looking for any little fault so they can post it on message boards and stick out their chest like they were the one to bring down the iPhone. Did Steve Jobs run over your dog when you were a kid or something?

agreed 100%
people are so fucking stupid I never cease to be amazed.
so now a pile of parts is supposed to be the same as a assembled and soldered device huh?
Design, and months of engineering are free?
Tooling and set up for a multi-million dollar assembly line are free?
Packaging is free?
Delivery and distribution is free?
Marketing is free?
American consumers are a waste of oxygen

Oh, Violator… You provide hours of entertainment with your posts…
You gotta chill a bit, man.
There is more hate from the anti-iPhone crowd than there is touting from the pro-iPhone crowd. FWIW, Anti-iPhoners will shout it from the mountain tops, creating threads at every available opportunity. On the other hand, most iPhoners, just bought one, enjoy it, and answer questions when asked.
The iPhone was touted as a neat tech-toy, not a tech-marvel. Touch screens aren’t new, iPods aren’t new, cell phones aren’t new, smart phones aren’t new. But the iPhone does a lot, and at a far different target than existing smart phones. Its targeted towards consumers more than business people, and does a lot of good stuff in a very slick apple package. On top of that, price is on par with most newly released smart phones. We’ve already covered that most of the knocks against it like no 3G are mostly jibberish from people only wanting to brag about their ecock, and things like the full web browser are pretty tits.
But what do I know? I don’t own one.
American consumers drive the global economy… duh

The only reason we bought iPhones was b/c they were the only reasonably sized phone that we were able to use the HSBC website to send wires to clients. The iPhone’s ability to actually properly display HTML is a huge selling point.
It’s use of IMAP to work w/ exchange is pretty good so long as you set the check time to something reasonable.
Once exchange push comes out in the fall the iPhone will be an attractive business device. It’s contact feature is pretty great. As are locally stored voice mails
The iPhone is actually a fairly revolutionary device. It certainly has major flaws (like being on the ATT network only) but the usability of the device is groundbreaking. Unfortunately since 3rd party developers can’t develop on it, it wont have the impact it could. But at least now there’s a fantastic GUI for everyone to copy.

couldnt have put it better myself.
