looks cool but not funtion…usually my hands are on top of the shifter…also i know what gear it is in…i guess for people learning manual would be helpful…one of them my wife…

Stop knob hobbing, it’s bad habit and bad form. Make your shift and get your hands back on the wheel. 
But I agree…looks cool, but not functional. I always know what gear I’m in and really don’t need a big lit up display to remind me. Especially on the knob where I’m never going to look.
I think it said something about it reading more than just what gear you were in. Either way, it’s a cool idea I guess. I think it looks neat.
And yeah, keeping your hand on the shifter is not a good habit.
If they put a “go, baby go” button on it too I’d be all over that in less than a heartbeat.

Yea its nice, but who reallly looks at the shifter. i know i dont but as everyone here has said, yea keep your hands on the wheel.
actually…I often coast to lights in 3rd gear and am busy doing other shit(drinking coffee, jacking off, etc.) and don’t realize that I’m sitting in 3rd at lights. Go on green and go no where and have to shift to first real quickly and feel like a dick who can’t drive. I think it has bling factor as well, and isn’t ricey. It’d be nice if it had an on/off feature (it may, didn’t read the article)
