I picked up a new phone, but still have my old 3G sim card. Can the new one be cloned so I can leave the old one in my laptop?
i take it u mean a mirco SD card right? or am i completely a idiot
I am confused too. Are you looking to use the same SIM card in your laptop and your phone so you can get internet on your laptop while using your phone on your account?
If so, No. Its illegal and imagine the terror you can raise on people with copying their SIM card
IF you do find a way to clone a 3G SIM, you can profit very much because hackers will love you.
When I signed my plan back-in-the-day, I was given 2 identical SIM cards :gotme:
Maybe it was by accident, but they both work. And no, I’ve never used them at the same time in different devices.
You’re an idiot
That sucks… it would be nice to just leave the one card in my laptop all the time.
Going to need a Plan B
thx
Ya its possible to buy two of the same ones since who ever makes it has the ability to do so. Once you register another device on the network with the same SIM number the provider may shut off the phone to prevent fraud and also since its how you are identified on the network.
Just someone picking it up and looking at the international subscriber number on it is not enough to clone it tho. You need the authentication key and a few other hashes. They are pretty interesting cards. I was playing with them after some of our WiFi phones use them and they are pretty impressive for a wafer board of plastic.
What kind of laptop has a sim card slot? Or did you get a separate reader?
Lots of the Acer laptops have had GSM slots in them for the SIM card.
