Simple (Banking Nerds Enter)

https://www.simple.com/

What do you guys think of the idea? Or is it another NetBank?

It’s public now via invite.

Here’s the catch: Simple.com isn’t a bank. A Simple account is intended to look and feel like a traditional checking account, but it’s actually an online interface that sits on top of a back-end powered by a collection of traditional, FDIC-insured partner banks. Those banks hold customers’ deposits, while Simple handles all the details that users actually see. It’s like a bank that outsources the actual banking.

Looks pretty hipster. hashtagging, iphone, hipster restaurants

Lol, so when you’re the fifth largest bank in the US (Bancorp Bank) and people are hating on big banks because of the current administration’s class warfare initiative I guess this is what you do to attract new customers.

“We’re new and hip and cool, just what you kids want instead of some stuffy old bank. Please don’t look behind the curtain or notice the disclaimer at the bottom of the page saying banking services provided by Bancorp Bank”.

“Current Balance” doesn’t tell the whole story. Answer the question “what can I spend now?”

It’s like banking, but for the short bus Kardashian watching crowd. BTW, you’re still going to overdraft because when you get gas they will put a $1 hold and not send through the amount you actually spent for 1-3 days. So that, “what can I spend now” balance (known as available balance on non-short bus accounts) will be overstating your balance by what ever amount you actually payed at the pump.

lol @ hipster banking. It has a nice interface, I just don’t know how viable it is in the long run.

I think it was Mobil that put a hold on 75 of my dollars. Bastards.

Chevron out here in SLC does $150!!!
