If i wanted to reformat my computer but still wanted programs to be saved, can i just burn them to a disc and install later? or will that not work at all. a few programs i have are no longer available/legal. let me know thanks in advanced!!

If you burn the exe’s, yes.
If not, you’re SOL

you will need the original installation files. That would be a “.exe” file that is used for setup.
I usually save mine in a folder when I download them for this exact reason.

i have way too many programs to re download, so why not spend the gig or less to keep them all ready to install

I think you are missing the point too… there is no point explaining…
registry values must be loaded into the correct spots. thats why there is a program that installs for u. if all u needed was 1 folder with a bunch of files in it, dont u think they would just let u download the whole folder instead of an installer?

It would be easier downloading an auto extracting exe than a folder that you need to copy. Kind of a bad example.
