Six Papa John's restaurants abruptly closed for business

I couldnt imagine trying to live on 10 dollars an hour. Its just not a liveable wage. My rent at my old apartment was 650 then during the winter the electric/gas bill could be around 500. Tack on car insurance, some kind of a phone (cell or landline), food, and all the other bullshit life throws at you.

edit: On top of that… majority of kids coming out of college have a degree that wont do shit for them and a ton of debt. In my opinion, that is the next disaster in this country, kids getting out of school with 100k in debt and making 10-12 dollars an hour if they’re lucky

I worked hard at my old job and didn’t get shit, not complaining just saying. Got my new job by luck and knowing people.

hahahaha this is similar to what i wrote awhile ago.

you should of seen it coming the guys who own the schools are rich. they have you thinking with fancy ads that going to school will guarantee you higher pay, better job and a better life… but that has proven itself wrong.

everyone has learned something (thats good) but you cant put it to use if you majored in philosophy and you work at mc donalds frying meat. thats the case for most people. you major in one thing spend time learning and then go after a different carrer or what every is available at the time. some people take a job for more $$$$.

but one thing is constant the big owners of the schools are making $$$$$$. sometimes tax payers money pays to teach a convicted criminal or send a dumb kid to school. i wonder why we have all these schools? would they be here if they made no profit?

you can learn alot of things without paying someone or attending a “school”. it takes determination and will power. sometimes its about who you know. but you can meet more people each day. so dont let that hold you back. resources are needed too.

if i am a business owner and 2 people apply at my business, one has a paper that says he has a degree, the other has what it takes and exactly what im looking for… who do you think will get the position?

i understand there are weird laws that say you must hold a degree to do this. but i wonder why? if someone is good at something and is the right person for the job why does he require a piece of paper?

this is where the laws are weird to me. its like the school owners made this law.

Same here.

No way is $10 a good wage to live off of.

lol my girlfriend gets paid $12/hr with a masters from st rose and 140k in debt

shit sucks

I’m glad I dropped out of HS and got my GED when I did.

There is no way in hell I would have had the job opportunities ive had over the past 5 years if I had waited to go to college and off to a learning center to get my certifications. I’d be making shit money and no way in hell I’d pay off the school loans i have

That’s the next American crisis, mark my words. People coming out of college crippled by debt and making jack shit.

I wish I never went to college and blew my money on tuition. No loans but I wish I had the money I wasted going to college for 3 years.

Im working in a totally unrelated field and making more money than I ever did before.

Without colleges, there would be people like PJB running fortune 500 companies into the ground. Instead, we have people with degrees doing that.

Exactly. It’s possible. People just don’t want hardship of living without luxury. Most people could stop complaining and take control of their situation. However, it’s easier to cry and point fingers, then be held accountable for their actions.

all that education and not 1 class in economics? High school economics taught us the theory of “opportunity costs”

ex. if no college and 12/hr job from HS to age 22 she would’ve earned ~$96k. Might not be alot of money but enough to live with a roomate and be debt free.

Her earning potential is greater than having no degree but it’s “potential”

if the decision to go to college was based solely on #1. the income level of profession vs. cost to obtain then certainly she would not a have a master degree (or the debt that comes with it). Unless it she needed a masters to be a teacher for instance.

an associates in a technical field is easiest cost vs. return for sustainable balance of debt, education, and career. Kind of like the program you are in.

I don’t wish to pick fun at you or your gf but cost of school is upfront. If she agreed to the price of St Rose then it is up to her to use her new earning “potential” Completion of any graduate degree means you have ability. my guess is that the career opportunity for her field is not great in capital district, which to me would have re evaluated #1, or move to where you can prosper with new education

yeah I tell her that all the time, and if I’d met her before she enrolled I would’ve talked her out of it.

she just wanted a masters and that was the program with the most direct/easy path

not a smart move for sure

I plan on getting some sort of business degree in the future. My associates in Computer information systems is pretty much useless.

My certifcations now that I have the experiance to back them up are pretty much useless and then some (Great when you need a job initially)

Going to SCCC for something in buisness I think would be worth it. PLus the only class I reallly really liked in my courses was buisness related. I forget the exact course name but it was IT in the buisness world, not from a technical standpoint. I had A LOT of fun in that class.

SCCC also has a program where you can get a full bachelors from Delhi on-campus.

it’s all about making yourself marketable. You can have a phd but it’s not going to get you anywhere if it’s in basket weaving. It’s important to find something you like, but i’d argue more important to get a degree in something that will pay.

benny got a phd in cock sucking, and ive heard from numerous people he isnt that good.

I heard he keeps leaving teeth marks on the shaft. Not good.

his beard has been giving guys rashes.

This.

It’s a bachelors in Business and Technology Management. You’re taking IT classes (programming, web development, etc) as well as business courses. Good program, I’m in it now.
