SixSpeed454SS's 1966 GTO project

Great work, good job! And I still love your truck. haha.

thanks, guys. I have some updates, but no pics Haven’t had the time to upload to my webpage yet).

Basically I have alot of assembly going on. Got most of the moldings on, part of the interior is in, some of the heater & A/C components, wiring, etc. Hoping to be able to start the motor soon.

It’s ALIVE!!! :eek4dance

I got it running today and drove it to the gas station to put gas in it. Everything seems to work well (brakes, steering, etc). Have some issues, but hopefully nothing too major. It misses real bad – like 2 or 3 dead cylinders. It is popping thru the carbs when revving it up. Seems like a lifter is stuck (probably exhaust lifter or 3 since it is popping thru the carbs). This motor was rebuilt in about 1986, yet was never run all these years. It doesn’t blow smoke out the exhaust, so no stuck rings. All the ignition/fuel components are new, plug wires on correct, carbs rebuilt, etc, etc. I’m going to do a compression test first & go from there. If it is a stuck lifter or 2, it isn’t that big of a job to pull the intake & replace all of the lifters. It has good oil pressure, so the bottom end is fine.

Hopefully in the next week or two, I will bring it out to a cruise night. I’m still waiting for my hood, trunk lid & misc small parts from the body shop. Hopefully have them this week.

I’ll be posting some more pics soon.

as one of your pontiac lovin friends i am gonna need a ride,

Looks great. Hopefully i’ll see it at a show someday.

That car is stunning.

Kick ass Tod. It has really come a long way.

I got it running properly & drove it about 3-4 miles around my plan tonight. Even had a chance to open the trips up. Runs pretty damn good. The rocker arm stud for #2 intake valve was kinda buggered up & wasn’t allowing the valve to completely close. When I did a compression test, I got 165-180psi for all but this cylinder. #2 had 0psi. Once I found out what was wrong and repaired it, the engine runs perfect. Idles smooth, accelerates very good, etc.

Here are some pics from today. I wish I had the rest of my parts so I could take some pics of a complete car

I agree. Car has come along way:burnout:

Tod,
Looks fucking awesome dude! … Can’t wait to see it!

It is Mint. Almost every piece is brand new inside the car. About the only thing that isn’t is the dash pad.

Thanks everybody for the compliments.
