Skydiving...

Gah, that sucks.

Just wear a rig just in case something happens you’re safe or have a better chance of living.

Typically landing is where the conflict lies with ultralites, rig won’t help your interaction with tera-firma that low. Most ultralites will glide without any power safely to land due to a mechanical. Rip, hits twice as hard having seen you in that pic just a few days before the incident.

As long as you’re 200ft high I don’t see a problem at all with opening/landing on a BASE rig that is. I wouldn’t dare fly or ride on that thing unless I had a rig on. If anything happened screw the ultralite I’m cutting away and pulling.

From the news he was in a canyon and deployed the parachute on the ultralight, but it did not save him.

A pilot killed after an ultralight aircraft crashed in Whitewater on Saturday has been identified by the coroner as Charles Ross, 50, of Lakeview.

The crash was reported at 7:21 p.m. on Whitewater Canyon Road, north of Interstate 10, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

Ross was the only person onboard. It’s unclear if he owned the aircraft.

The crash occurred about 7 p.m. Saturday, according to the coroner’s office. Ross was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:42 p.m.

Federal Aviation Administration records showed the plane was registered to a Running Springs resident.

Running Springs is about 65 miles northwest of Palm Springs, not far from Big Bear Lake.

An FAA official learned from authorities at the scene that the ultralight landed upside down and had significant damage.

At the time of the crash, sustained winds in the Whitewater area reached 21 mph with 37 mph gusts, according to the National Weather Service.

The cause of the crash was under investigation and details were not available.

Ultralights are small, lightweight, single-engine aircrafts that usually weigh less than 250 pounds and often fit just one person.

Saturday’s fatal crash was the second one in the desert within the past 12 months involving an ultralight plane. A pilot died June 8, 2011 in Joshua Tree after crashing 3 miles east of Roy Williams Airport.

Busted two jumps out yesterday. First time jumping at home since November of last year and it felt great. Should have my A-License next weekend

Bump Choda and my buddy Tommy will be making their first tandem jumps this Saturday!

Did anyone see that news story about the 80 year old that almost fell out of her tandom harness? How the f**k does that even happen? I guess the facility (in California) has had a a fews deaths. Nice!
It happened last year but the video was just released.

Looks like the old broad was struggling/squatting at the door.

They practically shoved her out, from the video it looked like she didn’t wanna jump.

Wingsuit landing with no parachute…pretty badass

^All that is man nomination.

Hasn’t this been done but without even a wingsuit but a snow board?

Now that just sounds retarded lol.

I’m pretty sure this was done before, no boxes were involved, but broken bones were.

No one has done it before… At least not without sustaining permanent or extreme injury.

Went to Sky’s the Limit in PA(near NYC) for a long weekend and finally got my A-license! Only made 10 jumps due to the thunderstorms one day and the really high winds the next. I also came across a good deal on a used rig so I picked it up.

Pretty awesome that the GoPro survived the fall.
