Thanks man!
What other plans do you have for this?
This year I’m taking care of the ecu relocate, all the wiring, and relocating other things like power steering cooler and coolant reservoir. Then hopefully next year I’ll pull the engine and paint the bay, although I kind of like the rugged look.
Power-wise, I’m hoping to upgrade to a direct port system next year. 75 single just isn’t doin’ it.
WHAT?!? How can you say that in this thread? lol
Haha. Rugged doesn’t necessarily mean dirty. The whole car has a rugged look. Everything is nice, but it’s not perfect, and it definitely isn’t some top dollar ride. But I still love it (for some reason), and think the non-perfect things give it a bit of character.
All things said, if I have the time and means to paint the bay I will. I’d really like to pick up a gun and tackle the job on my own, but we’ll see what happens when the time comes.
I like Sentras and all, but I can’t see spending this much time on one unless a VQ is going in.
Oh yeah, do not disconnect the power lock solenoids/lock sensor and plan on permanently removing those wires, for some reason the security system hates that.
Meh, in all likelyhood I’m making handfuls more power with the QR on a 75 shot then I would be with a stock VQ; and I guarantee I payed a lot less considering there’s a monopoly on VQ mount kits, wiring conversions, and vq swaps in general. It’d also be worth noting that there’s been very few known (maybe 2) VQ swaps into B15’s which have been successful in being codeless, something that I would need to be able to drive this thing in NY.
I haven’t messed with any interior electronics besides the radio and all the gauges, nitrous window switch and heater, so I’m assuming that’ll be okay. I never had a stock security system in the first place, but I do have a viper 2-way now.
This sounds like what Jake is going for but he wants to do a few other things first :snky: lol
if its too hard to work from outside the bay, get in the bay!
I’ve done that before, but not with a Nissan lol.
so the harness is pretty much done. still have to mock up/tighten the tb clips, maf clip and the o2 sensors, but those will have to wait until more parts are back on the car.
here’s what it looks like atm
also, got my upper thermo back from cory (zero5672). he punched out the barb and welded it clean for me. thanks again man!
earlier today I mocked up the power steering res in its new location and ran all the lines to the cooler from the rack and res. so power steering is done. pics soon, I like the way it looks.
finished the relocated power steering setup yesterday. extremely happy with the way it came out. the only place that had 7/16" hose only had 8ft. i thought i’d be short but it was PERFECT. only had to cut it one time to split the lines.
ran the lines under the frame rail and mounted the cooler up near the fender. itll sit behind the bumper.
drilled through the firewall to mount my modified bracket behind the strut tower area
and ran the lines. i think it looks really good. way better than it mounted in front of the strut tower and lines ran over the motor mount.
got sooooooo much done yesterday. harness is in. DASH SUPPORT IS BACK IN!! such a freakin pita! header is on. interior wiring is super close to being done. funny fact: yesterday i did everything nitrous related in about 3 hours compared to the few weeks it took me last summer lol. I haven’t really taken recent pics, but here’s stuff i haven’t posted yet to catch up.
shaved/painted mani
finished/extended/loomed/taped harness. not the prettiest thing in the world, but it’ll do just fine. like before, everything curled together at the top will be in the cabin.
had to make a bracket for the evap line clip since I shaved where it usually sits on the mani.
WhY dO I sEe fAcEs evERyWheRE!?!
cleaned up
ill take some updated pics today.
Nice work. Keep it up
^Thanks man.
And…the bitch runs! Had a couple failed test starts yesterday, once I forgot to put in the ecu :fail:, then realized I forgot the starter ground, and then, unfortunately, I had a messed up wire in the harness. But through some quick diagnosis and scoring the FSM for an evening, I figured it out and tackled a fix for it today.
Besides those mishaps she’s running pretty smoothly. I do think a I need a new maf though since I’m stuck in limp mode atm.
I’m going away for a few weeks so no progress will be made until July when I get back. It’ll give me time to order a few things though.
Needless to say, I’m pretty stoked!
Try just cleaning the maf first!
That was the first thing I tried. I still have to double check my safc connections, but those were pretty solid prior to this so we’ll see. Worst case scenario I’ll pick an ebay replacement on the cheap.
interior current status haha
current bay status.
obviously the vc isn’t done, strut bar is missing, etc. but all wiring is in place in these pics.
and itll be like this for a little while until im back in the homeland.
I really like the green. Good job man looks great
not sure if you mentioned this already, but what did you fill your mounts with?
