gravelys are the best…
hey lets hope we never have to use these things. I also have a 5hp toro for sale? Its 4 years old but i only used it 1 winter, still looks brand new no rust. I really didnt need an 9 hp thrower the 5 hp worked fine. Ill try to get some pics today.
If you’re buying a new one, quickstick type chute control FTW.
Well my dad sold my 5 hp toro, but here are the pics of the 2 i still use. The big one from other post holds its ground! The smaller one is good upto a foot and then its starts to be underpowerd. I kno there clean i love to keep my stuff like that.
Price wise the big one was around 1500 and the small one was around 700.
looks like they work great! I can’t see any snow left at all.
Here you go. Massey Furgeson. Burly.
Or this guy for cheap. Put a new coil on it. Blow.

No crapsman. Their stuff has taken a serious downturn in quality in the past 5 years. My mom bought one and after taking one look at it I had her take it back. Cheap plastic everywhere, including such high stress parts as the chute and chute aiming controls. I can picture just how quickly that will snap on a 10 degree day when you start firing snow/ice through it.
I picked up a used Ariens that is older than me for $200 6+ years ago. All I’ve had to do to it is change the oil, change the plug, and put a new belt on one fall when I forgot to release the tension on it when putting it away in the spring and it stretched out.
My dog could not walk in the snow when she got old so i used to blow out the whole backyard with the small 1 for her. So i kinda did blow off the lawn in the entire backyard.
+1 i bought one 4-5 years ago on sale in the late summer. I put it together and when it snowed i used it once. I then loaded it in my truck and returned it. I then drove to rochester and bought a Troy Built from Lowes(before lowes was in buffalo) I’ve been pretty happy with it and never had a problem.
Not trying to rain on you’re pardade or just repeat what everyone else is saying. I bought a Ariens at Home Depot when I opened a credit card there a few years ago and saved 10% on it. Cost something like $1300 as I got a bigger sized model. The thing is great! I know that they make smaller ones with 5 or 6 hp engines that would probabally be in the $ range you are looking to spend. BACK in the day we had an old Craftsman snowblower that was silver it was so old, and before that, a gold one, the gold one was going back to 1979, same year as me. My dad sold that when we got the silver one from my aunt and I bet it’s still going as it had a Kohler engine. Anyways, the silver one was unstoppable, well, unstopable until my dog dragged a nice split piece of firewood into the yard and I was blowing a path for her to walk in and, yeah… blew the case for the blower into a million pieces.
crafstman lawnmowers suck, just makes sense that there blowers do to.
