Thinking about getting one for the house… driveway is too small to make a plow service worthwhile… so thinking about this bad boy…

:meh: Never to sure when it comes to crapsman, We have always had hondas, Im convinced that they will out live cockroaches
its a snow blower… what could really go wrong with it… its not rocket science… and they have a warranty…
most of the models out there are all just rebranded from one company/design
Garbage …
Go find yourself a used older Ariens …
If you would like … i have a guy who refurbishes snoblowers
would prefer to buy a new(er) one… and dont want to spend over 600
my dad just retired the ariens from house duty (now used at work), and he just picked up a Toro. the ariens is older than me.
the Toro has some nice features on it, about 3.5x the cost of the one you listed though
Which is great… until its browken down and there is 8"s of snow outside.
At your price range: http://www.toro.com/home/snowthrowers/gassinglestage/ccr2450.html
More then enough for a smallish drive.
Ding. Parents owned one for awhile, every year something critical would break on it for the 3 years they had it (Shredded gears, damaged pulley tensioner, drive issues, and other crap that shouldn’t break under normal use.). Got a toro, and used it for the past 5 with nary an issue.
pick up a older gravely.

Agreed. I just fixed up my grandpa’s old Ariens and it looks alot better then all the other ones that were at the shop I took it too. All that was in there was mainly new pieces of garbage. The sheet metal on the new ones bend so easy. Just my opinion though. The one you listed should do the job.
my father has a toro that is at least 25 years old and still runs like new, awesome build quality, 15 hp motor.
Not this cheap crap u can get now made out of foil it seems. And yes Ariens is very good.
no room for CF on a blower tho, u might be out of luck.
I have to agree, older ariens/toro’s are built like tanks, all metal and they still offer parts for them anywhere, can usually be had used for 200-500 ish.
plus they typically have larger motors, 8hp nothing less imho. We had a 5hp crapsman, It couldnt do shit, and everything was plastic, including the pulleys :banghead:
Seen a few older ones around the area lately, 2 on transit near wherle next to mighty taco yesterday. Appeared to be older ariens.
Jeller
My old man has an old toro of unknown age that my grandfather used to own. The thing still runs like a champ and picks up snow like nobody’s business. He laso has a 4+ year old ariens that he only uses if its a light snow since its wheels aren’t driven but it is much easier to start and push around.
Go old school man. i picked up a used noma for 75 bucks from an old guy in East Aurora. Starts on the first pull every time, and if it doesnt i just plug in the electric starter. All it needed was axle bushings. in all honesty it would have ran fine without them but im a bit ocd about stuff so i replaced them. My only regret is giving it to the inlaws.
fyi 90% of all snow throwers are made by MTD. They do have different lines but are mostly the same. Honda’s are great but $$$
See if you can get parts for it, if not then it worthless
Ariens are the best, cheapest blower i saw this year was 650.

Nice post thats my blower! I love it! anything from 3 inches to 3 feet it will blow without ever clogging. I love it. very awsome how u move the thrower in 1 quick sweep also. I also like the fact that the warentee is top notch. $ well spent. My friend has a craftsman, nothing but trouble.
