thank god, im driving to ohio in 2 hours
I still can’t get over what a huge fail this was. Maybe it was because it was the section that does not pay tolls. “That’ll teach em to not pay tolls.”
Who does the New State Thruway Authority even report to? They seem to do what ever they want.

i got stuck in traffic on union rd, made my way back to amherst and had to take the 290 -> 190 -> skyway to try to get back to the burg
after sitting on the top of the skyway for 20 minutes, i called my friend who lives on allen, went to his house, and drank 9 or so beers
woke up this morning and went to work wearing the same outfit i had on thursday, hungover. win
My guess is the thruway authority being fags about who can and can’t tow on the thruway. They have only a handful of companies that are “allowed” to tow on the NYS thruway, that’s where the trouble starts.
X…
Got stuck on the thruway for a couple of hours on weds night until I could make it to the shoulder and drive to the nearest exit. I had no problem getting though the snow just the traffic that held me up. land rover FTW
For those of you who were stuck on the thruway, what did you do about food, gas, bathroom etc.? how did you keep warm for hours?
same story with me. I was on 90 for nearly 4 hours from walden to william. me and two trucks infront of me started driving down the shoulder until a woman saw what we were doing and went out of her way to block us. after sitting for over a hour I got out knocked on her window and asked her to move. it took some convincing but we were on our way once she moved. she tried to follow and got stuck blocking the way for everyone behind her that could have went home that night. I continued driving on because she went out of the way to fuck us in the first place. i’m a dick I know. The TDI feels unstoppable it is great. Flip the switch and raise it up and continue onward.
i was stuck for 11 hours…i had 3/4 of a tank of gas so i left my car running to stay warm, when i finally got out i had a quarter tank left. i had a donut in my car that i ate and half a bottle of water…the troopers didn’t bring food and water to anyone till 7 AM…and yeah most people just peed on the side of the road…its more difficult for girls…it sucked
Dear god. I hate driving in my car more than 5 hours on trips. I couldn’t imagine being stuck in one spot for that long.
I had my laptop with some movies on it with me and some food and drinks so I just layed down in my back seat and watched movies until I had a chance to get out of there.
dude i give you some serious credit. i would have lost my shit
Places that don’t suck in BOLD. Although I question 5.8 inches in Williamsville, I got between 1 and 2.
3 broken snowblowers between myself and my neighbors and I, 10 hours to free both of our cars, it’s 6pm on saturday, and we still haven’t seen a plow, the highlifts are almost here though. The police roadblocks in West Seneca were interesting last night, people started attacking cops, rushing the road blocks and trying to run cops over @ Harlem and Clinton when I tried to pick someone up who wasn’t let in to the neighborhood, I backed into traffic and ran and half a dozen cars followed while I ran interference… It got interesting to say the least, surprised people didn’t run the cops and firemen over all they were doing were causing problems and not contributing positively in any way shape or form. there are still half of my neighborhood’s cars @ walgreens and Tops, Valu on Rossler is still packed with cars from the ogden neighborhood, we’re out of the woods, but not cleaned out yet.
^seriously roads are still blocked??
lol give me street names that are unplowed I want to go drive around
I still can not believe it is like that just a few miles away and I literally can see my lawn. I had to drive into west seneca yesterday from North Buff and it was unreal over just a few minutes driving coming into so much snow.
they’re passable in an SUV, but there’s 18"+ of ice pack on most side streets as of late this afternoon. payloader has been working since dawn this morning, and my street is approx 1.1 miles long.
I knew the Harlem Clinton area would get bad as soon as the semis blocked the road 3 wide. “That first truck got stuck in the plow berm, I"ll show him and go around, D’oh jacked knifed cause the light was red and cars coming”
“Why’d that truck stop, I’ll show him and go over into oncoming traffic…d’oh”
Food for those w/o medical conditions, probably not a big deal, water and drinks probably more important.
The temperature hovered around 30-35 for most of the time, so a good set of winter clothes and jacket, inside a car, especially if with others in the car, should remain pretty comfortable.
If this was mid January when we have Temperatures that go sub-zero overnight, it would have been real bad and we would have probably seen some hypothermia cases.
Heck it was 55 the night before this storm, that’s probably why it was slushy underneath.
I thought about exploring onto the 400 and 90 when I out that way that night, but went home transit instead. Thought better of it. Really glad I did. Carhartt FTW though.
I was also kinda curious why the didn’t try sending some sort of small bobcats with plows or blower attachments or something along the shoulder to try and get at least the cars out. Most of the pictures indicated there was a lot of room, just snow, on the shoulder.
During this ordeal, there were 2 kinds of people, the kind trying to get home, and those trying to leave their home. Unless they were emergency personnel, I was only pushing those who wanted to go home, the others were causing the problem.
I’m in the Harlem/Indian Church/Mineral Springs triangle… it was a warzone for a while. Ran to Valu friday to get parts to fix my neighbors blower and the cop tried to tell me I wasn’t going back home @ Harlem/Clinton “oh alright, let me turn around” looked over my shoulder like I was going to back up and took off past him. 4 others followed suit and cars were 2 wide blasting through the intersection going down the wrong side of the street as the cop was running around trying to stop us all… didn’t work.
