Seeing I got my board stolen at the end of last season I need to get some new gear. I already know what board I’m getting, I’m ordering that in like a week or 2 (Lib-Tech Dark Series 161W-C2BTX).
But I’m not sure what I want for bindings… I’m looking at something high-end; I figure I’m spending almost $700 on a board, I might as well put a good binding on it.
Was looking at the Burton CO2 bindings, although they are $$$$…
But I’m looking for recomendations on a higher-end binding.
I do mostly free-riding with some park mixed in once in a great while; I will be doing multiple trips to VT as well as CO/UT this year to ride.
I wear a size 12 boot (Burton Shaun White original release).
Yeam said to look at Flow Bindings, but they seem to be more inline with the low-mid level bindings rather than the higher end.
What type of flex do you prefer? Usually free-riders prefer stiffer bindings.
It’s more important that you find something that fits your boot well, and is comfortable, than to worry about how much money you’re spending. Typically, more expensive means stiffer though.
Personally, I would get Burton Bindings with the toe-cap strap. Other than that, I have heard that Flow bindings are comfy, but a little on the heavy side.
come on we talked about this, go talk to the guys at buffalo boards, and im sure they will point you in the direction of flux. they are sick bindings and very comfy, all they do is focus on bindings, they dont no produce snowboards, boots, goggles…etc. they just do bindings, so all there money goes into producing the best quality they can get!
i love the pair i have and would not think of going with anything else right now!
these are the ones i have.
My bad, keep thinking Flow for some reason, not Flux…
And we did talk, but I’m still getting input from more than one person
I was riding an Option Signature 163, with Ride SPi Bindings… so I’m now going with a completely different board style, but still want something compariable or better bindings. I do like the “stiffer” bindings though (Personal preference); but I don’t want something that’s heavy as hell either.
what did they have to say about the flux bindings? or did you not ask them at the shop? i forgot the kids name whose dad owns the store, but yeah, if you talk to all of them at the shop im sure you will get some good input on any binding that are out there. the one kid is a very outstanding rider, and personally i would take a lot into consideration with what he says due to testing everything there is out there and buying the stuff they find the be the best out there.
Burton bindings are over priced garbage along with any plastic binding. Save the plastic for dildos
I can get you a really good deal on Ride Contrabands (or any Ride binding and Flow). These are what I rode last year and I loved them.
I road SPIs for about 4 years until I got a pair of prototype contrabands from Ride. Both great bindings IMHO.
As for Flow you can get some higher end stuff from them. Heck they have a $1000 gold plated binding coming out this winter, and No, we did buy any of those…lol*
I have burton customs, can’t complain. Pretty good bang for the buck for my style of “riding” (i’ll admit i suck).
Out of curiosity, anyone know the name of the company that made the binding where the back folded flat and your boot could slip in without messing with the straps? Those things were horrible.
Yep, I start back to the shop the middle of Sept. Can you hold out until then? Trust me I’ll save you some $$$$$
As for the bidings you mentioned they are all really good and you cant go wrong with either, just depends what you’re looking for.
With size 12 you’re right on the line between L and XL just depends how much bulk your boots have, so bring them with you.
smaefer, you guys sell lifters? I’m guessing you know what they are, but if not, the pad you put under your binding to give it just a little bit more lift and clearance for your toes/heals
