So my board was ganked and I need to get another one asap since i’ve been basically living on the slopes these past weeks. If I find one in great used condition I’ll consider it but this thread is aimed for suggestions on buying new.
I am looking to spend ~$600 on board and bindings (I have boots, they were on my feet, thus not stolen).
I am looking at the burton air with cartel bindings as of now. I know a bunch of riders are all about burton but I have also heard not so positive things about them.
Can anyone vouch for this board? Suggest an alternative?
there are alot of good boards, and burton boards are def. a quality board. but dont get mindfucked into just burton. you can get a pretty sick setup for $600.
i got a great setup for this season at dick’s at the galleria for well under $400. and ironically all my stuff is burton. 05 burton cruizer strapped with 06 missons.
havent made it out to use any of it yet but im really looking forwarg to it.
good luck
burton is solid, if u get a cheaper board, chances area it will be great at first and then suck in a few years, they lose theyre feel, much like a skateboard, for the average rider, u prolly wont ever tell the difference, but once u get to be better and really get a feel for what the board is all about and how to use it(especially in park n pipe!!!) then u will notice the difference greatly. to sum it up, most boards are just as good as the other until it gets worked in a bit. its ur call at the point. personally i find that every 2 yrs the board will need to be replaced anyways. take mine for example, i bought a 450 dollar deck about 3 1/2 years ago. its a k2 nemesis(k2 has since become a not so good board but it was a sick board at the time). then first season i put a nice ding in the rail and now the core of the board is exposed, in another year or so my board will be waterlogged and essentially worthless. BUT, it still rides same as the day i bought it. next year i will replace it with another high end board and most likely fuck that one up too. its up to you if u wanna spend a shitload of cash on a board but remember, its a snowboard and its indefinitely gonna get fucked up and need to be replaced within the amount of time it will take to lose its feel.
I’m going to go out today and see if I can buy another deck. I’ll keep sliders in mind but are there any good shops in Buffalo? I hear good things about Buffalo Boards. I’ve also been to two four five but I get a feeling they may be overpriced.
edit: brendan I really like your set up. Why would you sell? And what size board/bindings?
What where you looking for? Should have asked for me. I can usually get my hands on anything that we are out of stock on. No big deal I just hate hearing of you guys paying full price for stuff.
I was the one who you talked to. If I would have know exactly what board you wanted then we could have hooked you up. For the money, there are some other boards out there that you could have gotten that would have been better for you. I probably would have splurged and gone for that Ride Theory and Ride SPi setup that I told you about. Im sure we could have worked out a decent deal for you. Honestly If I were you I would think about returning that setup and explore other options. Dont settle for the first thing that lands in your lap. Just my $.02
