so a friend is trying to decide what car to buy .... low 13sec cars or faster

:word:

Ford Lightning for sure. Have him go buy the newest issue of 5.0 mustang and there is a whole article on fast lightnings in there. Plus it could be something he could drive in the winter and tow with also.

how did we go from talking about a low 13 sec vehicle that can tow to an 800 hp gto?

thank god for the internet or no one would be able to make any decisions these days!

:word: but he said low 13’s not high 11’s

Eh, the C5 isn’t quite high 11’s I don’t think (could be wrong), but originally he was asking for cars in the 12’s ;).

13 second car that can tow and has a nice interior and he can drive all winter with a warm ass?

Legacy GT

I vote GTO.
Nice interior - Check
13’s- Check
Mod friendly - Check
Not FWD - Check

Not going to tow a boat, so beater truck for towing. Having a fast truck never made much sense to me anyway. Fun if you only want to go straight I guess.

The new Mustang fits, minus the interior. I checked one out when i was shopping and honestly, I’ve seen Fisher Price put out higher quality plastics. I have no idea how Ford gets these things out the door with that interior.

And Walter, you don’t tow a decent sized boat with a Legacy. Tow capacity 2700lbs as per subie site. My relatively small 18 footer is 2500 dry. Add gas, trailer and gear and you’re way over 2700.

The other consideration is how many miles is he willing to buy into. I see people paying crazy amounts for 80k+ vehicles on here all the time. If that’s the case he could look BMW, Porsche etc. If you’re willing to accept high mileage a budget of 33k can get you into all kinds of cars. I’m not saying this is a smart idea though.

yeah the c5 z06 goes 11’s with a capable driver. high 12’s for the c5 6 speed

whoops, I missed that he was towing a boat :-p

its a small fishing boat and he pulls his 2 sleds around in the winter. he pulls the sleds now with his SHO with its “N/A” towing rating (because of the transmission). he could probably drag the boat behind his SHO too if he needed to.

I’ve towed 2 motorcycles + a full load of gear with the LGT and it never noticed

How has the SRT8 Cherkoee been overlooked??? That would meet every one of his goals…

Or even the SRT10 Ram, those can be had for a pretty reasonable price now.

used ariel atom…go to the ariel forums, guys selling them for low 20s.

:tspry: :tspry:

what all is done to the motor? or is he just running a big shot of juice?

those wheels are overkill if it’s otherwise stock, but it looks mean as hell

after seeing that, I started looking on autotrader for a marauder to trade my buick in for… bastard lol

the cars called “PUREVIL” its a ProStreet/ProTouring 2003 Mercury Marauder. This is an all-forged 4.6 Cobra motor with a 6-71 (custom made intake by owner) and twin 1000cfm throttle bodies.
