It wont connect to the internt… the light blinks on the lan but i can not connect any ideas?

i have 2 comps in my room… i borrowed on from my dad… just so happens that sonny hooked him up wiht it… anyways turned out comcast had to reset the modem so i could connect. the phone/cable modems you cant reset yourself cause of a backup battery… atleast thats what the dude at comcast said. anyways its pimp now.
