So I’v been looking for a truck for the past couple weeks and I finally found what I wanted. My search started out as a big ass truck, V8, gas guzzling machine. Well I was talked out of that idea real quick when I realized how much gas was going to cost and that I didn’t want to keep 2 cars.
Anyways, long story short, on fathers day, I took my dad out to dinner and he mentioned to me that he saw this truck on the side of the road and it looked pretty decent. So we decided to go take a look at it.
I stopped and saw it and instantly knew that I had to have it. I had to use a little restraint tho, I didn’t want to show the kid how bad I wanted it. I left and took my dad to dinner. The more we talked about it and the more research I did from my phone at the dinner table, the more I knew I should just go back and leave him a deposit.
Went back, negotiated him down on price and left him a deposit. Went back 2 days later with payment in full and now I have this:
It’s a 2002 Ranger Edge with the 3.0(I know the 4.0 is better, don’t make me think about it anymore)
I installed my class 3 hitch last night and I am all set now.
It has high mileage, 142k to be exact, but these things run forever if taken care of and this has been and it shows. The truck is in great shape, has a lot of extras and runs perfect.
To finish off, I leave you a few shots of the main reason, I bought my truck. Just know that I spent my day out on the lake, while most of you were most likely sitting in an office/cubical looking at how nice it is outside. ENJOY!!!
This looks JUST like Bananas old truck minus the decals. If you crank up the torsion bars you can fit like 305/70/16s on that beast. He got very poor mileage though, I think he averaged 14 or under. Let is know how much mpg she gets.
I hate to say it, but it’s not good at all. I filled it up yesterday, granted I put a lot of miles on it the past 2 days. I made various trips yesterday, between getting parts from the store and tools from my dads to install my hitch. Not to mention, I took a trip to Silver Lake today with the boat. I filled it up again today when I got back from the lake, I was just below a 1/4 tank.
To be honest, it doesn’t have that much power either. It struggled pulling the boat up those hills in Wethersfield. Overall I like it though, it’s a nice looking truck.

I have no honest opinion on the sticker. Should we start a poll? Does it make me a ricer if I keep it on there?
nice truck. i just got rid of that 99 i bought of you last month and got a 4cyl 5spd 4x4 94 ranger. i sold your old truck for $200 with 250,000 on it and it still ran like a champ.
bah the LSX swap was MY idea, too bad the car is my dads. he bought another 13B for it, go figure…
Dude that truck is a machine. 3 of my family members drove that truck and it took alot of abuse. These rangers will run forever if taken care of properly. I have proved it tome and time again. My brother just sold his 02 with 220K and it still ran perfect.
