The only problem I ever had with them was not the bank itself, but a retarded teller.
I sent to the SEFCU right by my work here in East Greenbush, and tried to depost my paycheck.
Well the teller says there will be a three day hold. I look at her like she’s fucking crazy.
She tells me there is nothing on there that says it’s a pay check so she has to process it as a third party check.
I tell her there is no way she’s putting a hold on my paycheck.
I’m hired as a consultant and the checks are cut in our finance office and not through a bank.
She calls over the manager to prove me wrong and have him put me in my place, he tells her she’s nuts and cash my damn check.
Surprised no one has mentioned Bank of America… They have overdraft protection for transfers, and I believe it’s free for preferred checking. If you put a minimum of $50 in savings, it will just pull what you’re over from your savings instead of hitting you with nasty fees. If you are planning to put money in savings this could be good for you.
If you are still a student, then the student checking is free and I don’t think there’s a minimum balance. You also get two “get out of an overdraft” cards… Sounds cheesy but true.
They’re like get out of jail free type cards, you can use it if you happen to overdraft. My bro set up an account there, he got the cards. He hasn’t tried it out yet, but he has 'em…
Just an idea…
BTW Since banks are getting hit hard with all that’s going on they will do whatever they can to recoup $$. So be sure to read the fine print with anything you sign. Almost everyone is raising overdraft fees, returned check fees etc.
Also, just another tip. If you’re not the type to record all expenses in a ledger (who does that these days), the do yourself a favor and check your balance every day online. You will be reminded of what has been cashed, what is still in the pipeline as far as future checks, etc… Plus it’s a good way to counter identity theft if you constantly check your credit card activities.
BoA’s online system is very easy to use, I end up checking it all the time and it helps me to keep track of what’s left.
:+1 for Bank of America. I’ve been banking with them for years and have NEVER had an issue with them. I have my mortage through HSBS and thus far they seem ok.
Just a warning, if you withdraw all you money without paying the OD fee, they might put something in you credit history and fuck your fico up down the road. :sad
negative benny. you get so worked up. im not fake by any means, if i disliked a person i wouldnt speak to them on any level. i say things how i see it. you post some off the wall things, which in turn make you look like an idiot. i have plenty of friends who use some form of drugs. as long as there personal habits dont begin to affect them in a completely negative way, or affect me in some way it doesnt bother me one bit. you need to throttle back man, getting worked up over nothing. :nono
I skipped this whole thread. I have first niagara… and let me tell you, if they fuck up they’ll help you out. If YOU fuck up, they’ll still help you out and waive overdraft fees like there’s no tomorrow. Hahah, it got to a point where they said, no more waiving fees for you if you fuck up. Plus I ordered proactiv for my gf because shes a woman and THINKS she has acne issues… (crazy women) and got fucked over hardcore by proactiv and my bank helped me out again. Very friendly, very helpful, and nothing but satisfied.
You get 2 or 3 free ATM withdrawals per month, what will happen is it will say you were charged then capcom will deposit however much money was charged back into your bank account. Also overdraft fees are like nothing…I have only had it happen once but I believe it was like <$5
Best idea i’ve read so far. I don’t know how so many people overdraft, especially among being able to get e-mail notifications if your account is low or simply just going online and checking to see if you have enough funds in your account.
My GF and her sister worked there at one point. I’ve never had a problem and they always refunded me shit even my own fault? But, SECU and CapCom is great. Sorry for your misfortune.
I think BoA or one of the other big branches will text you when your account researches a certain limit. My buddy gets a text whenever his business checking gets down to $500.
I have Trustco because I regularly transfer $ back and forth between myself and 2 other Trustco acct holders for business. I’ve been trying to get all of us to switch to BoA for years.
talk to the bank manager and you can get them to waive the fees…just be careful they dont send you to collections for not paying the overdraft fees…not sure if banks do that or not
