So, Ice Racing.......

you have to have studs? i might buy a set, anyone have some for sale?

There is an unstudded class.

Don’t bring a beat to shit rusted car and expect to run in the street car class either. Cars must be “neat and presentable”…

I can’t make this weekend either :frowning:

my passat isnt ghetto  or maybe the diesel…

but this weekend is too far away, anything closer sometime soon?

as of right now no…

pay attention to the ice thickness report for CNYIRA, 12" is the minimum amount.

i just got a second set of snow tires yesterday… i may need to get them studded

Things are looking good for a CNYIRA ice race this weekend 2/17 & 2/18.

Waneta has enough ice for racing. Otisco is close (10-12") but has at least a foot of snow on top also.
The issue now is car counts. To cover the cost of insurance, we need a minimum of 20 drivers. So far 8 are expected.

Lake Waneta is near Bath, NY (#5 on the map)

Bath is close, tempting.

On my way drive back to the Denver airport last week I drove by what looked like auto cross on a frozen pond, looked like a lot of fun. I wanted to stop but couldn’t convince my co-worker.

That figures - I have my last match with the rifle team this weekend, and then I am done coaching for the season. I’ll have to wait until the next time :frowning:

I would love to go but it is my mother’s birthday the 18th…

already emailed him.

Going to be in Boston and Hartford, so no for me.

crap:

Update as of 2/16/07:

I am sorry to report that there will be NO CNYIRA ice races this weekend 2/17 & 2/18.

We do have enough ice on Waneta Lake, but we just don’t have enough plows to get the job done. AMEC is hoping to race on Round Lake this Sunday. They will be attempting to plow on Saturday, so if you want to race, check out their website at www.icerace.com and look for an announcement in their latest news section to make sure that they were able to successfully plow a course.
that’s a 3+ hour drive.

bumpity bumpity…

ive got a presentable car for the street class. now the question is what are the un-studded tires i should get. depending on how extreme they are about the no rust rule. My L should be perfect for it.

you crash on dry pavement - i cant imagine you on ice

I’m planning on getting some Kumho MXs, so I’ll have tons of grip.

Yeah and I might bring my 225/50/14 V710s. :stuck_out_tongue:

Look into the Blizzak Revo 1

Honeoye Lake had one a few years ago. The ice hasn’t been thick enough in the past couple of years but by the way this winter is going maybe the lake will be ready by mid February.

um. who are you referring to?
