After a month of speculation, a couple interviews and several days of keeping things “hush hush”, I accepted a new position today at Basil Toyota. I am honored, excited and ecstatic to accept my new position/title as Finance Manager.
I’ve known for a week or so, but they had me keep things on the DL until it was the right time to announce it. It’s awesome because I never knew my “place” in the dealership, but them giving me this makes me feel appreciated for my hard work and awesome selling skills.
Not only am I taking on more responsibilities, a higher position and gaining a ridiculous amount of knowledge…I’m also getting a huge pay raise from my already decent salary. Not to mention, out of all the managerial positions, F&I is usually the most profitable. Plus, its a ridiculous experience to have this early in the game. It can only benefit me. I also beat out about 3 or 4 seasoned veterans and the rest of the sales staff.
It’s a lot to take in, and I have to expand my knowledge base substantially but I’m excited to have a cushy job in a cushy office.
Not bad for being 22 and a dipshit. :roflpicard:
Plus, not only do I get to go to NYC for a week to attend TFS conferences, but I get to go to California for a week in June.
I have college under my belt, but nothing in regards to a “business or finance” degree. If I didn’t work my way up from the bottom or have experience in the auto industry…I’d probably have to have a degree.
I’m just really good at what I do, i guess. The girl who I replaced had a masters in business from NU.
congrats. just make sure you keep working hard, the auto industry (sales) seems to have a super high turnover rate for higher end positions, so don’t get into a comfortable state. keep your head up and work hard and i’m sure you’ll be fine.
Thats how I was at TWC, started at the bottom and within a year I had moved further than pretty much 97% of people in that company. Great feeling and def pays off in the end.
