My dad called me today from Toronto telling me that the exhaust was dragging and he had to use an old pair of jeans to temporarily get it off the ground, so he could limp home.
I’m wondering what went wrong, could it be the hangers? The exhaust was on very nicely, minimal play when I tried to wiggle it from the tailpipe. I did however, get some serious wheel hop going last saturday when I went back to visit and take it for a spin. I’m almost certain that violent vibration caused whatever broke to finally let go.
Repair wise, I know I’ll need the exhaust hanger, but will the pipe have to be rewelded on as well? I’m pretty sure it broke after the exhaust was let go.
I can’t do anything, or even tell what happened until I go visit the car next week. Any advice or insight would be greatly appreciated. I have to replace the waterpump/t-stat and thoroughly flush the system too, hopefully I can do all of this in one day.
if a hanger broke your looking at 10$ per hanger. if they need to weld the exhast where the hanger broke then your looking to pay 30$ it wont be expensive so i wont worry about it.
