So there's a damn cell phone tower across the street from my house now...

Get a lever action 30-30, a rocking chair, a cowboy hat, and a bottle of jack daniels. Spend your afternoon taking shots at it. srs fun i bet. You could shoot the light out once a week and see how fast they come to repair it.

Look forward to good reception???

Trust me- I’ve thought about it LOL. Maybe someone will do it for me. The old owners told me apparently someone didn’t like a huge mcmansion that was being built down the road. The thing just burned to the ground one night while still in the framing stage, there wasn’t even any electrical done yet. No idea who did it. Years later they finally rebuilt it and finished it.

My dad bought 11 wooded acres and built a house right in the middle just last year, only clearing what he had to. No worries of neighbors. I think I’m going to do that, or buy an existing house like that. The house right next to me is so surrounded by woods that they won’t even be able to see the thing. I can’t even see their house from spring to fall. I grew up camping every year in the Adirondacks, so it’s kind of a lifelong thing for me.

Too close. Need to be about 1/4 mile for the best reception from that tower.

This would solve your internet issue as you could get an air card.

If its painted orange and white, its on the top of a hill, and deff will be lit. Only towers deemed to be a hazard to aircraft are painted orange and white.

Deemed a hazard = lights

I am really interested in that picture from your house as well. Exactly how close is this thing to you?

It’s not orange and white- it’s just silver. Light on top but not lit yet. If that light is intrusive I’ll fight tooth and nail to get it shut off. That’s about all I got at this point.

whats the point where theres enough current draw? Rodgers cell phone sites run on 200a single, 100a 3 phase or 200a 3 phase depending on site / required equipment. Ive been told they do hum sometimes but havent been around a powered up site to see it for myself.

op, that sucks. i too would be pretty upset if this were to happen to me.

any word from a lawyer on what you can do? possibly reduced taxes from house value dropping? i mean shit, my house went up ~30k from 55k to 87k when they built the development with 300k houses in it by the tonawanda sportsmans club, and thats about 1.5 miles away from me, not even on same road. something like this being so close has to reduce house value.

Lawyer never called me back, typical. I don’t think there’s much I can do anyway. My realtor found a notice in the Sun from last June. It had been ongoing for a while, but that was the final notice, so I would have had to buy a paper and find that, which probably would have led to me pulling my hair out for 6 months, and I doubt I would have gotten anywhere. Plus I’d have to find another house in the area, near a tower, that sold for a lesser value than other houses to prove anything. I found a matching tower about a mile away that had been there a while, and I walked near it and didn’t hear any humming. My next door neighbors up and moved about a year ago. They built their house only 10 years before and they’re only in their 30s. Makes me wonder. Same size lot, similar sized house, but obviously much newer with an awesome garage, and it went up for $179.9 and sold in a few weeks, vs mine that was less than 100K, so I hoped that would help the value of mine. But I guess any increased value would be negated and then some now.

I keep asking myself why this is destroying me so much. I mean, it’s just a steel tower. (198ft tall if it’s the same size as they originally proposed) The word I best describe it is “spoiled”. Like taking a show-worthy classic car and hacking an ugly cheap head unit into the dash. Sure the car is still awesome, but just looking at it spoils the experience. Some people wouldn’t care, but I do. I’ve figured that if get rid of the second half of my circle driveway and just plant grass over it, and plant a bunch of the biggest Spruce trees I can buy in a few choice spots, after a few years they will get big enough to block the view when combined with the deciduous trees I already have (when they are leafed out). That way I won’t be able to see it from the majority of my property. So basically I’ll have a small forest in my front yard. Great, another spring project.
