So what's next?

Buy newmans bimmer when he’s done with it. :eekdance:

I think they are incredible cars and a good value… needs a clutch-delay-valve-delete and maybe a lighter flywheel… and an exhaust+chip, and viola, you’ve got an e46 M3 killer

fuck e46 M3 w/ SMG is tempting… ViperJr?

aiya…

can I really go all year w/o a track event?

What I love about the EVO:

I can get in, take it to the track, and if it breaks, warranty is there.

What I hate:

ZERO creature comforts

What’s costing you so much to maintain the evo?

oil changes (3-4x), pads 2-3x yr and I’m not even tracking it often, rotors (that i’ve been putting off since the warped after my first event last season).

This is a tough one. Sounds like you’re dealing with conflicting priorities: You want cool cars but also want to pump money into real estate. I dunno, I’ve got no worthwhile advice as far as what’s a good decision. Cars suck balls financially, but it sounds like you’ve got a decent plan to minimize that.

/useless post

If I had the option of what you’ve got listed I’d go for the solid comfy capable daily (come on it’s just transpo) and an exotic track toy ASAP. Hence used 3 series and exige. Hell if you can get the Exige this summer by getting an even cheaper DD do it.

well the more I look at the exige the more it makes sense to wait a year for that car…let some used s’ hit and then not only could I pick up a high mileage S but also that’ll drive down the 1st MY exige prices

Also, I think if my EVO was white I’d be happy  I’ve just hated the red from day 2

paint it white?

Not a fan of Z4’s?

M coupe?

Z4 hardtop comes out to more than the 335

painting the evo white would pretty much mean I’d never ever be able to sell/trade it in

ive driven most cars on your list there and i ended up with the used m3…
i love the smg trans, its sooooo much fun to thrash around town when ur in the mood, and the car is just sold, and they m3’s are pretty reliable and can take a track thrashing and drive home afterwards.

when i drove the 335 i just kinda was like eh afterwards… yea its quick and yea its got luxo stuff… but when you start loading into it your into the mid 40’s pretty quick… that will buy you an 04 CPO m3 or even an 03 CPO with a warranty

what i would suggest is a used 03 m3 SMG white/black or white/cinnamon with either CPO warranty or aftermarket warranty if your into it

the reason i snagged an 02 is the 100k motor warranty

Get the used 3 series, it can handle a track day (as long as you add an extra quart of oil  ) and the Exige. Then you’ll have a comfy daily, and a track whore. Also having a backup car is really nice.

The 335 is gonna get boring, slow, all that shit and you’ll wanna mod it. I thought about it a bunch too, and if the 335 was a true Daily driver, then yes, but you have to have another car then.

buy the 335 and just track your dads C6

C6 is gone so that’s not an option.

I think Joe’s best bet is to swing something that will allow him to have two cars: one daily and one track whore. A semi trackable daily might help in that situation in case your track car is down temporarily and you still want to go to an event. I would think the used 3 etc. with an exige has to be approaching the price of a used C4. That would definitely make you happy and be the perfect daily even in the winter and be the perfect track car as well.

+1 for the C4 as a daily just make sure the RMS has been done

Joe you could pick up your old teg for cheap, but going from awd to ff might suck

I would go with a used M3 with a warranty. Vipers car was a great buy, it has the best mix of lux and sport which is what you want. Call him up and have him take you for a spin this weekend. Definately a nice daily that you can take to the track anytime. Any car YOU buy is going to hurt your wallet for maintenance if you bring it to somebody to do it for you. If you want a cheap car to maintain buy a ford fusion or something lame. I dont know how oil changes and pads add up to 3K though? Must of been some other stuff in there.

Oh and the B6-7 s4 will be my next daily, if they were in the 20K range I would have one now. I love those cars, V8 and quattro is nice. Too bad there were not too many sold and they are going for mid 30s still.

Price out rotors and pads for the Evo, multiply by 2 and add a few oil changes and you are there.

In regard to buying a Higher mileage M3 (read more than 50K) there are gonna be plenty of things that will nickle and dime you that are not covered under waranty, so you’re back to the same situation, but with a nicer car than the Evo.

yea like i said, ill let you drive my car, i let spencer do it… i dont mind letting other people take it for a spin

its such a n ice car to drive i dont know if i could be happier with the mix of lux/sport

there are times i miss having stock seats for the active bolsters and power, and my car had heated seats, so that woulda been nice this morning, but i like the sparco milanos… cept they are a lil too wide and you cant recline without the door being open or braking your wrist, but thats not BMW’s fault

if you get an 03 make sure its an 03.5 with the LED tails so i can steal them from you

You driving the M3 in winter next year?

or you can just add these cars to the long list of cars you say you’re gonna buy…but don’t.
