First time selling a car to a private buyer. He put down a small deposit and will pay the balance next week in cash. What do I need to do besides sign the title over, create a bill a sale, and draft up an sold-as-is contract? Any paper work I need to file with the DMV? Going to research this as well but figured I would ask on here. Thanks guys.
Nope.
I’ve been using this bill of sale for more than 10 years.
Thanks, man. Going to use that one.
Just write two copys. One for your records and one they keep.
I ________ sold my 1988 pos car vin#_________ as is to ________ with no warranty for $1,899.00.
Date and sign
Good deal. I thought this would be a big process to sell. Not bad at all.
I usually do 3, the third one being a lower price to give to the DMV
Same here
Make out with him. Duh.
I never sign that one. I make them forge my signature so I have plausible deniability.
To the OP, did you write up a receipt for the deposit as non refundable? I took a deposit once and then the buyer backed out and wanted their money back. After that, I started writing up receipts and having buyers sign them when giving deposits so they would know it was non refundable.
When they go to tegister the car they need to bring in the bill of sale anyways, i think they copy it or at least read it.
You can actually do it all on one form from the DMV without a bill of sale now.
Obviously the form acts as a bill of sale but its a DMV document
This. You don’t need a bill of sale anymore. The sales tax form acts as a BOS
