So last night a buddy of mine lets me take his car home… which is a PnJ modified KB Cobra… 03, 15k on the clock. Cruising down TTT… @ WWW:
05ish vette… beat him worse than the PnJ Yellow 05 GT we raced a couple nights ago… caught a red light with him, but he didn’t go… didn’t even look. I made sure I got out in front of him when it went green so if he wanted to lead he’d have to give it some gas… then we catch another light @ Broadway on transit… again, no launch, but I got out a little harder, then I heard him punch it and break loose a little, I punched it in first, spun, pulled, shifted, spun, pullllllllled and shut down, got on the brakes and drove past a cop in the parking lot. Vette stayed way back, and turned immediately.
then there was an old skool muscle car, big tires, huge tach… primer grey, stickers on back windows…too dark to tell what it was… and honestly my Muscle Car Memory is shot.
I cruised next to him in 3rd, cause I wasn’t sure if he was gonna go, once we got around the bend we went… he pulled half a car on the jump, once my revs got up I got a car and a half back, and 4th was way ahead… we slowed down, exchanged thumbs up and then we were on a nice straight… so I dropped her into 2nd… so I would be more prepared… took him forever to go, but when he did we were even while both of us were spinning, I got 1/2 a car in 2nd, and then 3rd was about 3 cars ahead. :eek: That car was quick though… like low 12s I’m thinking. We beeped as I pulled into my driveway… I wanna find out what that thing was… cause he was a pretty cool older guy, who definitely didn’t see it coming. I could tell, on the first run, he was looking for headlights in the rearview when he got his 1/2 car lead… but then when I pulled up along side him and then quickly got in front of him, he was shocked and amazed.
I was laughing so hard… especially when the vette stayed way back… I wish more people could have seen that one… The older car was a better race, but the vette driver was a n3rd.
Someday this car will be parked in my garage… just waiting for him to accept my offer.
BTW - More details on the 05 Stang… - yellow, black stripes, black wheels… and some spray. I pulled hard enough to not even know he was spraying. He got back to John to find out what the deal is… I don’t think he feels so bad about losing now… he was a good guy too
