If you are running higher boost etc. it may be a good idea to grab a set of high output injectors but only if you can tune it properly. Side-feed injectors from an SR20DET or KA24DE will work fine.
everything is stock on my motor right now. 7psi, side mount, etc. so KA injectors will work fine? awesome! that should bring the price down a bit. i figured the sr would naturally use bigger injectors cuz its turbo but i guess i was wrong lol. ill grab some KA injectors 1st thing tm
Sorry, edit that post…SR injectors ARE larger than KA…what I meant was that you can use higher output aftermarket KA injectors on the SR20DET. I dont think the stock KA ones will allow for a good fuel supply, so I’d advise AGAINST using STOCK KA injectors, if you can find bigger injectors that suit the KA, you will be able to use them on the SR without a problem.
even if the injector was stuck open the car would start and run. it would run like shit but it would run. im thinkin its somethin else. has this happened to anyone else? I have spark, I can hear the fuel pump humming, all the intercooler piping is secure. seeing as how this just suddenly happened out of nowhere, I mean one sec it was running fine and the next second it was fukd and it wasn’t a gradual thing either is makin me lean more towards electrical. maf, ecu, etc. let me know what u guys think
Well, technically, no. If the the injector kept throwing fuel into the engine while you had the key in the “on” position, this would cause your engine to flood. Given the fact that you do have a spark, I dont see how it could be anything electrical. If you had a bad MAF, the car would run, it would just run in safe mode, meaning the ECU would not allow to you rev above a certain RPM. It is for that reason that I’m assuming it’s injector-related. Have you checked the ECU for codes? If you know how to read the flashes, then look into it. If you dont know how, take a video with a digital camera of the ECU flashing and I’ll be able to read the code for you. Now the ECU isn’t always 100%, but it takes ALOT of the guesswork out.
injectors.
ok guys. thanks alot for all ur help. a couple buddies came over today to try helpin me diagnose the problem. i explained everything that was goin on. buddy said try startin her and give her a bit of gas, so i did…and the bitch started. ran perfectly fine all day. no billowing clouds of white smoke, she runs just like she used to. i dont know how put my car pretty much fixed itself. i just gotta get an oil change tommorow cuz i guess gas got into the oil somehow, and eventually get a compression test just to make sure everything is up to par. thanks again for all ur help guys. this thread can now be closed… phew
i love it when that happens.
