fuck it man, how many helper objects attach themselves to IE, its retarded, every single time i ever got a a virus despite having an antivirus was through some shitty activex or helper object attaching itself then having to spend a good hour to three hours manually cleaning the system. It’s a piece of shit.

Yes in IE8 you can view now helper objects and activex controls in one easy way, but I am biased having had plenty experiences with both products.

And I know what running in a ‘sandbox’ is likewise all the other BS features in vista such as the anoying UAC.

FYI not all people HAVE vista! I’ve been running it for a while and currently am testing 7 (which is GREAT on a side note. You can also disable/remove IE, although of course its’ components are integrated a complete kernel and interface rewrite would be necessitated, a complete OS rewrite to truly get rid of IE).

Main reason I use firefox is I prefer it’s interface and minimalism I can achieve unlike IE which forces me to be a certain way… and being separate from the system and being able to customize it the way I want including customize sites I visit through scripting… and haven’t been infected even once or had any unwarrented popups even once. It has been bulletproof for me in several years unlike IE.

Your experience is echoed among many FF users however FF is vulnerable to ActiveX attacks and malicious code. (see below) ActiveX is a core component of windows and Windows based browsers (i don’t know about Opera) will include a shim or adapter to execute code. All an attacker has to do is push the malicious code through the ActiveX connector and bam, same exploit used in IE now works for FF or Chrome…

TBH: I use FF and OSX at home, right now I don’t worry about virus or spyware at all.

If ActiveX is your argument then I suggest you don’t use FF or Chrome… Both can execute ActiveX. [Google Chrome installs and ActiveX shim (by default) and FF uses XPCOM to execute ActiveX code… ]
