SON's Fastest?

The same can be said for anyone… and I accept that.

But the fact is… it’s still a 2000lb car with 300HP beating on a 3300lb car with 300HP. Just looking at the physics of the situation… I can’t win.

there are stock looking turbo civics everywhere that will beat someone…

i have seen a top secret video of a guy about 30 minutes from me over the border with a stock looking red S13 with a full R34 RB26 conversion he did himself in his garage… untuned it ran over 400rwhp with very basic mods…

he is friends of friends so expect to see it up here a few times.

Rotorkami, do you know any of the guys from CAN-SAF Auto in Oshawa… I might be cruising around sometime with them in the summer, if you know them you should come out and shoot the shit.

i’m up in innisfil, and before that Guelph… don’t get out that way much at all… besides Im old and a crusty bitch. :stuck_out_tongue:

i am not saying that is good or bad, but it would make more sense if we had similar experience and interest in it.

true, but my experience with SOLO - high, track - mid, and 1/4 - NONE. so even if I have 500+hp in a 2200lb frame I have no clue what my optiaml launch is nor how my clutch will react to it. someone with 350 in a OEM 240 would probably beat me. with skill.

I don’t see how putting a RB26DETT from an R34 that puts down 300ish HP into a 240… can magically make it put down 400HP…

EDIT: Unless those basic mods included a boost controller and intercooler

And Rotor, age doesn’t matter! Are you doing solo1 this year?

i was running 19psi boost last season…and was able to easily pull and out run a porsche GT3

at 13psi my car dynoed 288rwhp and 323ftlbs…so at 19 psi it should be be around 370-390rwhp and 400-420ftlbs in a 2600lbs car or thereabouts

i dont drag race at all so no clue really…but you could look up a porsche GT3 1/4 mile and its easily faster than one of those in a straight line race…

adam

Porsche 911 GT3 - H6 3.6L (380 hp) 6M + ABS 4.28 12.48 116.60

0-60= 4.28sec
1/4=12.48sec @116.60

i thought my car would be in the high 11’s or low 12’s so its gonna be in around there…not that its set up for drag racing…slicks…ect would knock off lots of time

nope, this is a tunning year, I’m running a Haltech E6X and a very ported 13BRE ( cosmo ) at @ 20psi… it’s going to take some delicate tunning to make this thing stay together for more then 100K… maybe towarsds the end of the season I’ll do some track days…

Magazine tests and general reviews are handled by guys who are essentially pro drivers. People that buy these cars read the magazines, so Nissan wants the best possible time. I found road tests showing the GTR-Victory spec (not an 89 … 93) running 13.0 flats.

That’s also on a car Nissan provided to them, and let them play and tune it all day, run it 15 times down the track etc.

I didn’t mean anyone’s Skyline will run 14s … Solarian made the comment
about needing a “heavily worked 240 to beat a stock Skyline”

Those 1/4 times were from Australian Skyline owners on their forum, and the times they were recording with stock 16 year old GTRs were in the 14s.

Biggest complaints were stock clutch not being up to the task of 6,000rpm launches, sticky tires bogging the motor and instability in a straight line under WOT.

Drag racing is not easy. It is very very dependant on driver skill. Drag launching an AWD car isn’t easy either.

Bog or blow off the tires. Just because someone got a stock Skyline to run 13s doesn’t mean anyone can.

If you run a 15 in your 240 your first couple timed down the track. A drag racer took the wheel, it wouldn’t be unlikely to see him easily nail a low 14.

Don’t take the credit away from drag racers. It’s not “wait for the blinky light and floor it”

I could bring a 400ci Mopar, and battle for 12s, but what’s the point? I’ll bring a 1.8T and be happy running 14s. If you want to try and get a “best time” go on a test and tune day and spend ALL DAY working on getting your time down. Having a drag strip shootout with people that have never raced on the strip is pretty unfair. It’s frustrating for new people and can turn them off ever coming again.

If this event does become reality, I’d suggest having the two weekends prior as test and tune days, so at least people can get some experience.

Why not have the SON olympics?

Different events, different winners, then overall winners.

As for the Porsche … you’d have to see 60 foot times and a better break down of the run to make a comparison.

Your 240 pulled him in the straightaways, but an AWD Porsche would launch a lot harder, making you chase him down.

AWD cars tend to have low trap speeds. The parasitic loss from the weight of the AWD starts to really slow it down by half track.

But a 288hp 240 should be turning some really good times.

What’s the race weight of your car?

Nice, hope to see you out… maybe you can make it down to the Mischief track event

I definitely look froward to seeing this car!

Representing the FCs! :stuck_out_tongue:

LOL I’ve got a few of em  but this one is going to be the most fun… I’m afraid to drive it around markham/brampton… it’s a heat magnet… espeically with side vented dual wastegaes  more flames … more flames!!!

race weight is 2600lbs fueled up…

and 288rwhp was at 13psi boost…the car is running 6psi over that now…so at least minimum another 60rwhp…though the car tended to make about 12-13rwhp per psi of boost…and more torque than hp

i havent seen the car in person, just the top secret video… lol

the car has side exit exhuast and was running high boost on a big shiny turbo. the car was untuned.

it was sitting on the dyno for base runs and put out 404rwhp i believe.

it also has a RHD conversion and gauges flushed into the sunvisor. all stock body work. side exhuast exits behind the passenger (lhd driverside) wheel.

i didnt get expected results after some tuning, but i would think 500rwhp in a 2700lb car is attainable and formidable.

and dont you worry, i will get this car out in niagara for some of our cruise nights.

Aww only single wastegate for me…

… out the fender.

bing i ran 13.4 @ 107 with 12 psi with motomaster LXR all seasons spinning threw 1st and into 2nd with no tread left on them and an intake that is 1.55" diameter going into the turbo with a full interior.

this year i will be on good tires with 15 psi and alot more mods.

i will run a high 12 this year on stock turbo, and the upgrade.

your times change every day dude…

first it was 13.8 then it was 13.4…

and motomasters suck bum-holes…lol

yes they do because i ran 13.8 @ 7 psi

thanks for comming out.

You shaved 0.4 off your ET with 5psi!? Christ you must have spun through more than just 1st and 2nd!

Adam, your guess seems bang on

In a perfect world, a 350whp 240 with a race weight of 2600 should be hitting low 11s with a trap speed of ~130mph

note to self … don’t stage against the red one
