EDIT: Dont read the comments on the video if you havent watched it last night.
Such a perfect finale. Almost as good as the finale for Breaking Bad which I’d rank best of all time.
Spoilers ahead…
I was worried they were going to try some crazy stuff (like the whole ghost was him mom theory) but they went with exactly what anyone who’s paid attention thought was going to happen… Jax makes the sacrifice for his kids and his club, completing the ark is father started all those years before. That he was able to do it on his father’s bike on the same road just down the road from the same spot… perfect.
Yeah, we were a little off on the whole homeless lady thing…I think she represents the reaper or death. We’re not crazy though for thinking that, Sutter said in the aftershow, he specifically had her character that way because he wanted fans to be able to use their imagination and try to figure out what she is.
I loved that Chib was ready to shoot him and then didn’t. I had an idea that he would end up back up on that road and when they showed that scene, I was a little worried.
Yeah, I knew the club wasn’t going to kill him. Like Jax said, “No way I’d ever put that burden on you guys”. Chibs would never be able to live with himself after that.
The minute they brought up that JT might have committed suicide and then Jax started getting JT’s bike running it was pretty clear where the obvious ending was going. I just wasn’t sure if they’d go the obvious route or if they’d try something weird to have a “we got you suckers” moment. Glad they went the way they did.
EDIT: And yeah, it’s pretty clear she’s the Reaper. “It’s time”, plus the same blanket Jax gave her in the graveyard way back in season 1. I didn’t get the last supper reference when the camera paused on her bread/drink until this morning reading some of the reviews. I knew it was important but I think I was just too tired for it to click.
I missed that bread/drink reference Jay, please explain…
It’s what the homeless lady was eating/drinking during the scene where she gave Jax the blanket and he killed August Marx. The camera panned to it at one point and held there so I knew it would be important. Then at the end, final scene, it was the same piece of bread on the road. It had a very distinct stain in the center. The blood flowed to the bread as the scene faded out.
I’m not a religious person but bread, wine, angels, jebus all that stuff… Yeah, lots of pretty cool symbolism going on with that and it gave us our answer for the homeless lady.
i can see where i work in the background of this scene
only thing i have to offer is that Ryan (@3gknuck) of vintage dreams built a rad fucking knucklehead for the show…
except for the fact that bonehead “jax” couldn’t ride a foot clutch/hand shift and made him put a hand clutch/foot shift combo on it…looks pretty out of place
It’s funny you say that because in the final scene, during their filming, he really did almost run into the semi.
I’m going to miss this show.
I heard they are talking about doing a prequel series telling his dad’s story…
I always thought the homeless lady was mother of the girl who threw the rock into the ice cream shop. She died in a car wreck because JT ran into the truck.
She is, that’s how you know she’s not just some homeless lady because in the episode Jax goes to rock thrower’s house he see’s the homeless lady’s picture and recognizes her. That’s when we get the back story that she died in the same accident that killed JT and know pretty much for sure that’s she’s a ghost/angel/reaper. Plus the fact that she can teleport from Charming, to Belfast to some random truck stop up North where Gemma was.
