Well, I just got a computer so i can uses a a notebook basically, its a old sony vaio pcg-505ts nothing special, probably the slows machine out there but i was gonna use it for word document etc. nothing fancy.
Anyways this is what happens
-Push the Power button
-Begins to load up
-“Sony” is displayed
-THis is where it all ends hahah it goes to a Blinking _
Whats the dignose of this problem.?
Im assuming its somethine with the harddrive?
its either no good or no o/s right?
Im hoping no o/s so i can just install a new o/s…
IT does NOT have a floppy or CD-Drive…
Can i use the memory stick to be a bootable recovery?
If not then i have to go to a external boot drive
or take out the 2.5 hard drive and get o/s put on it then reinstall it?
Probably just needs the OS installed, as the drive was probably wiped.
However this might be an issue here seeing as you can’t install it on the system itself right now. Typically when you install Windows (Which I am assuming is what you are going to do) they install based on the hardware in the system.
So it might work, or you might just get a BSoD once you put it back in. You might need to boot from an external CD-ROM drive in this case. Might be possible to boot from a flash drive, if the BIOS supports it. But you would need to see if it is an option in the settings first.
Of note, this is an ancient laptop with USB 1.x ports, and it had a PCMCIA based CD-ROM drive setup. From research it looks like it should, but slow install ahoy.
lol slow is not the problem if i can get it up and running so i can type my documents im happy ahhaha. i’ll check the bios to see if i can run the flash drive. hey dan or fuzzy u got a external hard drive i can borrow?
is it a 2.5 laptop drive or the 3.5? let me know does it have a o/s on it? i’lll definetly take itpm me your address i;ll even come to pick it up if that helps
it’s a full size desktop HDD and no, it doesn’t have an OS on it, but I have a linux live CD you can have which should get you up and running for the time being. lmk
