Soooo...do any MP3 players work with Mac besides the iPod?

I am really sick of my iPod touch, its an awesome device, I just don’t have much use for it with my current other electronic devices. As such it’s come to the point where i wanna get rid of the thing and try a new device…problem is, I have a massive iMac staring me in the face…do any other MP3 players work with macs?

Any mp3 player that can be recognized as an external hard drive is compatible. This feature is called UMS or MSC.

All the players on there are really old though.

Theres something that prevents certain players(ie the zune) from even being recognized by macs though, I wish I could find a newer list…

Only thing with Zune is that it needs the Zune software from what I recall.

well thats obvious considering microsoft makes the zune…

Even if you don’t use ALL of the features of the ipod touch, it is still a good mp3 player. I don’t see the point in buying another one.

Most phones can play mp3s too, that might be a better option than a POS mp3 player.

problem with the touch for me personally is its too small, too light small(i prefer something that I don’t feel like i’m about to snap in half), i don’t like the lack of easily accessible controls(its a gen 1), and it doesn’t work with the aux jack in my car thanks to the beveled bottom edge, i’d rather just sell it and grab something that would be better in my situation, and thanks for that list pirite

In that case, I would recommend an iPod Classic.

i was sorta looking at a 3rd gen ipod tbh, since they are indestructible and i love the super old touch wheel set up, but i’m considering something non-apple just to toss it up

If you’re at least somewhat computer literate, you should have no problem getting anything to work with your Mac. Drag & Drop FTW.

trade you my 60gb ipod for your touch

Too small? The 1st gen iPod Touch’s are somewhat thick compared to the new ones.

I never understood how people can complain about the small size of a device thats main intent is to be small, lightweight, and portable.

Any MP3 player is going to work on your mac. Most are mounted as a drive, you can drag and drop your MP3’s onto them. And its not even hard at all to install Windows on it, simply to simplify the process if its that big of a issue.
