the problem that I am having is I’m getting an execessive amount of static comming through my speakers, but not all the time. sometimes i get no static and can listen to music fine, but other times i cant listen to music at all because of the static sound. the static sound will be there even when no music is playing, just the speakers on. so i thought it was the speakers, hooked up a pair of headphones, and the same thing. so i’ve come to the conclusion that it is something to do with my sound card. i have a soundblaster audigy 2 sound card, which i like alot (specially since it has firewire and that’s how i connect my ipod to my computer), and dont want to swap out for my sb live 5.1 card. any suggestions on what might be causing the staticness or how to troubleshoot the problem? lmk what you guys think … thanks!
Move your cell phone away from the computer.
^^^ hahaha yeah I know the cell phone will do that from time to time, but it’s not that …
make sure all the speaker plugs are in all the way.
make sure the card is screwed down to the case
make sure the card is in tight
make sure your computer is grounded
try disabling/muting both line in and mic in
last resort, uninstall it, move it to a different pci slot, reinstall.
hope that helped.
def going to have to try all of that … thanks sonikempire
