Specialty car insurance companies?

I called around today. Here’s the skinny.

Grundy - No deal. You need to be 25+. I’m 20. Also, that “daily driver” deal is a load of bull for Joe Average. An agent told me that it’s generally reserved for people with 10+ cars with them, totalling a $10k or more premium, or have home-owners insurance through them. They’re out.

Progressive - Recommended by Grundy. Well, the guy said the Progressive seems to be pretty lenient anyways. Call Progressive, spend way too long on the phone with the guy. They will do agreed value, excellent. Only problem - they want $263.99 a month, or 1323.99 if paid in full for 6 months. Yea, I’ll pass. (I pay $750 a year currently.)

Called Hagerty and spoke with an agent for a bit. Easily the nicest and most helpful of the group. My age isn’t a problem with them, and he’s going to call back tomorrow with a quote.

The only catch with them, is that I need to have a second, “daily-driver” vehicle, with the car and insurance both in my name. I’d rather not buy a second car right now, so I think I may have figured out a “way around it,” so to speak. Nothing that would break the policy or anything, and nothing illegal, don’t worry

I’ll call State Farm tomorrow, and I also intend to call a few others.

I’d call Sneed, but you have to be 26 to qualify

Thanks for all of the replies. If anything in this post was is a repost on this site, oh well. This was copy/pasted from Miata.net

This is a great subject. I am going to call Hagerty today the quote online was 300.00 cheaper a yr. but i am 29 with no points. i will keep you updated.
